I have no need of your sweet card
Because I know it is true
That you dont have to try too hard
For the sweetest thing is you
Hello again.
Polly and Pixie Posted Sep 24, 2008
Dear Rick,
This is now reminding me of how we met ~~~~the 'Card for Christmas' thread oh so long ago!!
This greeting comes across the miles
To find it's way to you.
It's filled with merriment and smiles,
And my heart ever true.
When you unwrap your presents
From me on Christmas day,
You'll find I've spent a lot of pence.
Reimburse without delay!
Polly

Jesus save all the babies
No matter their colour or creed
Bring us rain and some sunshine
For all the little mouth's to feed.
Hello again.

The night was dark, yet one lone star
Shone out above the One we lovest.
His was a simple manger-bed.
And in swaddling bands he was dressed.
That little child, so meek, so mild,
Was God's creation. And that night
Amidst earth's darkness, sorrow, pain,
That Child would one day be the Light.

Lord when times get really bad
And your cross so hard to bear
Give me the strength to raise my head
And the humility to share.
Hello again.
Polly and Pixie Posted Sep 29, 2008
For Christmas
I want a bunny with a turnable head;
A puppy to take for walks;
Furry slippers beside my little bed;
A dolly that really talks.
I want grown-up scent like Mummy wears;
A set of colouring-books;
Two very big and cuddly bears;
A brush-and-comb set to make me look
Pretty and sweet (Grandma says I am);
A camera (not a pretend one);
My very own curly-twirly lamb.
There! My Christmas list is now done.
Hello again.

The bump he left?what a shock
Hello again.
Rikiiboy Posted Oct 4, 2008
The cacophony of butterfly wings
Lends a sound to all the things
That make the slightest sound
Yet are the most profound...
Hello again.

(Thanks Tickle<winkeye)
In the year of our Lord 2008
It was a chilly March Sunday morning
A little before ten am
When you breathed your last
Your closet family were at your bedside
Me?I was in the next room silent
you would never have known I was there
I knew I had to be
So as your family said their goodbyes
I kept my stiff upper lip
Although I was choked I hoped that there was no sign
The Nurse came shortly after and pottered about
We all sat in your tiny loungue fidgeting
When the doctor arrived and all was logged
You looked at peace and had closed your own eyes
I watched carefully as the bier carried away your tiny frame
twisting and turning past your old bookcase
Out into the cold of that morning
I dont recall any sunshine that day
But a my lowest times I often remember your sudged lipstick
And your wicked wicked sparkling smile
Hello again.

That's very moving, Rikii.
But whereas I knew that "sudged" was just a typo, I can't make up my mind about "closet family".
Hello again.
Rikiiboy Posted Oct 13, 2008
Hi Tickle,alas instant writing contains instant typo's and spelling omissions.
Closet or closest
As only a one fingered typist(and my hands are like a bunch of sausages)I sure have a lot to learn.
Thank you very much for your input it is as always much appreciated.R.

Hello Rick.
I agree with W4aT--your last poem is extremely moving. It brings back so many memories of the last 4 days I spent in hospital with my Papa. Looking back it all seemed unreal. I had a room in the hospital; I ate in the staff canteen; I showered at a friend's home nearby.......and I held my Father's hand as he passed away. I have 'replayed' those last minutes so many many times since that time.
Well done, Rick, with your poem.
Hello again.

Hi Polly,I am so glad you have graced again this thread with your magic touch,I was getting worried about you as you have been missing lately.
Not as much as I have missed your presence
Hello again.

I feel I know you well, my Friend,
Since first we met on here.
I hope our friendship never ends
'Cos you are oh so dear.

Hello again.
Rikiiboy Posted Oct 14, 2008
You are my shoulder
In my hour of need
My guiding light
I follow you lead
Someone I can trust
With my mistakes
You never complain
At my heartaches
I know you'll be there
Morning night e'en my end
My defender confidant
The greatest friend
Hello again.
Rikiiboy Posted Oct 19, 2008
I have sympathy for the dwellers of the cave
Although they had only themselves too save
Our generations have progressed from knave
To the lowly ranks of the educated slave
Factory workers balk at the light
Emerging from their gates into daylight
Facing prospects none too bright
Working all hours day and night
With chains of burden we'll never see
Nor hear those silent screams of we
Prisioners who'll never be free
Permanent slaves to the money tree
Hello again.
Rikiiboy Posted Oct 26, 2008
I dont have the physique of a dancer
Nothing special to romance her
My old heart beats slow and strong
Steady like me as I get along
Yet there is something in your eyes
A welcoming sign you cannot disquise
A warmness in the smile you show
That stirs my soul from head to toe
A sudden desire to turn and play
You relight my fire of yesterday
You just have to be in the room
For me watch as you bloom
My sweetest thoughts to you my rose
Are but dreams for me I suppose
