Shetland
Shetland is probably the best place in the British Isles for "getting away from it all". It's the best place to see the eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), as well as several rare species of seabirds, plants and sea mammals. It has wonderful ancient (and not so ancient) monuments. My favourite places in Shetland are: Lunna Ness for otters and good walking; Stenness for fantastic scenery; Hermaness for huge colonies of seabirds, particularly gannets, puffins, bonxies, arctic skuas and razorbills; and The Keen of Hamar for rare plants.Conversations
