h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Intern asked me if I would drop by and talk about writing for the Edited Guide - so here I am

I noticed that you haven't managed to write an introduction on your personal space yet (homepage) Spicing Up Your User Page at A690518 is very helpful.

The Edited Guide is made up from entries meet the <./>writing-guidelines</.>. It is made up from entries that are factual and provide a 'Guide to Earth'.

In a nutshell:

1)Research and write an original entry that follows the <./>writing-guidelines</.> and does not already exist in the Guide. (Use the <./>search</.> facility and select Edited Guide entries only, to see if an EG entry already exists on the subject.)

2)Once you are happy with it, then submit it to <./>peerreview</.> (via the submit for review button, which will give you several options).

3)Regular researchers and <./>scouts</.> will give constructive feedback which is intended to help iron out any problems.

4)Hopefully a Scout will select it for inclusion into the Edited Guide

If you want to have a look at some of the kind of entries that have made it into the Edited Guide then the <./>frontpage</.> is a good place to start or <./>randomeditedentry</.> will pick one for you

If writing non-fiction for the Edited Guide isn't for you then . Fiction can be submitted for the <./>Underguide</.> where it goes through a similar selection process.
But there are many entries, that don't meet the guidelines, available via the <./>search</.> engine, which can be fiction, quirky or outright crazy and written just for fun.
In fact every entry created can be found that way!
