New Arrival!
Ginger The Feisty Started conversation Oct 16, 2004
Well, I'm happy to announce that Ginger gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy at 6:30 this evening after a 3 hours in labour. May have taken a little while to get started... but once things got moving there was no stopping them! Took the hospital staff a little by surprise too!
Little Harrison, weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and both mother and ;baby are well. (The father on the other hand... ).

And if anyone needed a clear illustration of the dangers of the internet, here it is.

You start up a harmless conversation about pantomimes, and inevitably, after five years or so, you're having a baby.
Don't anyone tell the Daily Mail.

Why don't we have a smiley now that we need one most?
Congratulations Doug and Ginger!

Congratulations!
There's a page of "They met on h2g2" romances here: A827237 Harrison is the 2nd h2g2 baby.

Thanks for all your good wishes... I'll be passing them on to Ginger in a little while.
Jim, I was expecting an "Oh no she hasn't!" reply! Now, I am right in thinking that h2g2 will contribute to the upbringing of our child now aren't I!
Thanks again - will get some pictures posted as soon as I get a grip on things!

Many Congratuations Doug and Ginger!
That's absolutely fantastic news, I think that's one of the shortest labours I've heard of, Ginger said she was impatient, wow!

Doug,
Have they given you an idea of when Ginger and Harry can leave the hospital and come home?
New Arrival!
Ginger The Feisty Posted Oct 17, 2004
Thank you all. Harrison and I are home from the hospital as neither of us got much sleep last night. Bernadette - It was worse than Doug let on as it was 3 hours with no pain relief! Not that I was being brave but I dilated from 3 to 9 cm just walking to the delivery suite (1/2 hour) and so there was never the time to get dosed up. Not to be recommended I can tell you.
Peta - I may be impatient but not quite as impatient as Harry was at the end of the day. He is also still obstinate, having laid in a perfect position for birth for 9.5 months and then moved back to back on the day of delivery! OUCH!!!!

Hi Ginger,
Wonderful - you're home already!
Both of my babies were back to back too, awful lower back labour pains? Yow!
Was the baby induced in the end? I'm assuming he was. Coming so quickly he must have been really keen to get out, and no pain relief at all, whew, at least it was over quickly!
Best wishes to you all now. Lovely to hear you're home. I'll look forward to hearing about his progress.

Ginger The Feisty Posted Oct 17, 2004
Cheers guys - he was induced but it only took the one attempt which is unusual for a first baby. So far he is feeding for an hour then sleeping for 4 - long may this continue. Hardly cries unless you change his clothes and is happy gurgling in his basket now!

You are talking about the youngster and not Dastardly, aren't you?

Newborn babies are great, they just sleep all the time. Just you wait until the little angel grows by a few months...
