New Arrival!

I took it in good heart. No problems as yet - seems too good to be true. So far Harry has peed on Dad and himself - I seem to be immune!

If he doesn't get colic, he may stay 'too good to be true'. Of course you get the odd run of maddening behaviour, but on the whole babies are easy to look after; provided they are healthy.
Am I allowed to ask if you are breastfeeding?

I am breastfeeding which i hope will keep the colic at bay. I am avoiding strawberries, grapes, garlic and curries like the plague and have kept the caffeine intake as low as I can. It's turning out to be easier than I thought - even in the middle of the night. Did you bottle or breast feed? I am thinking of giving a bottle now and then so that I can get a break occassionally.

I breastfed all of them - Charlotte and Isobel exclusively, David I bottle fed for a couple of weeks under duress, but fortunately I was able to keep my milk supply going through frantic expressing, so I was able to get him back on to breast milk as soon as the hospital weren't looking any more.
Don't even think about the bottle until he's a couple of months old, if you want to breastfeed successfully. Cutting down on the time you spend feeding him will compromise your supply, if you start too early.
Also be aware that he may not take even expressed breast milk happily, so try it first while you're at hand, but sitting out of sight so he can't see or smell the real thing; then if he refuses you can give him a proper feed before he gets too hungry.
And I eat curry nearly every day: Charlotte had colicy fits very occasionally, usually after a busy day, Isobel never had colic. I also drink coffee and tea by the pint, but I do drink it fairly weak.
I love breastfeeding, and will be very sorry when David gives it up.
