Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary]

Well, I got the pictures up a while ago, but only got around to titling and captioning them today...

Also wore the dress for a friends' wedding this week (pictures from there will come up later, but not many, because most of the time I had better things to do than take photos).

In the meanwhile, I have been accepted to the Draper Interdisciplinary Masters Program (http://draper.fas.nyu.edu/page/home ). smiley - wowsmiley - boingsmiley - somersaultsmiley - divasmiley - wow
Still need to talk to the Financial Aid people about actually getting the money to go there (absolutely no way I can afford it without a grant/scholarship/whatever). But I am happy, and therefore hopeful.

The pros and cons... well, they are still there, but having been accepted - the chance to actually be in New York in a few months - makes a lot of difference.
When I wrote them the Statement of Purpose they asked for, I ended it with something along the lines of 'this might be a bit of a detour on the way to a PhD, but the experience and knowledge I will gain through it will be important provisions on my academic journey'. smiley - rolleyes Yeah, I know. Rather tacky. But in a way, I feel this is true. I feel if this works out, it can help in the long run.

From one cum laude to another cum laude!!

Comgratulations; Lovely to read your posting - which I found by accident. I think I got mine because I was so ancient when I went to University that probably no-one thought that I would make the grade. !!

It is so nice to talk to you Lady Pennywhistle and I hope that we can be friends. I am a really old biddy, but although I am now esperiencing moments when I "sort" of"forget" - not true I actually do forget whole heartedly and energetically - I find so much joy, friendship and compassion on this wonderful website.

Have a wonderful day.

Hmm, I don't think I meant to be away for so long. smiley - erm Ah well.

Thanks you, Also Ran. It is nice to meet you - I think I have seen you on various threads and journals before, but I don't think we talked much. smiley - smiley Always delighted to get to know new people, anyway.

As for my academic situation, it hasn't really changed much. I found one scholarship that might be good (from the Association of University Women), but have not finished all the tedious paperwork yet. Even if I do get it, it's still kind of a tight fit, and might not cover anything other than tuition.
So I'm feeling a bit pessimistic about it, try as I might not to. But I will do more PhD applications, and I think I have a better chance this year (what with the Cum Laude and such), so I'm really hoping to be away and happily studying by next year.
It'll be good. I honestly do miss being in university - odd, isn't it? smiley - geek The schoolyear here started not long ago, and whenever I walk in university (which of course does not happen that often) it feels strange to not be a part of that anymore.
