FAMILIES – To Love or to Loathe…that is the question!

I can’t understand why, despite continuous rejection, that I care what my family thinks of me. Get knocked down, get back up, get knocked down….a continuous pattern (at least from my mother’s side). I only talk to them once or twice a year, so the knocks are few and far between – for that I am grateful. I couldn’t imagine this happening all the time!

Yet despite the fact that they are only interested in themselves, I can’t help to strive to be better, to impress them. But for what???? They don’t know about my career, haven’t shared my successes, haven’t supported me in trying times, don’t have a clue what I do in my spare time!

Maybe if I was more like them it would be different…if my pastimes included watching football, getting drunk, gambling and most importantly, talking about how great they are!!!!

This isn’t a sob story, so I’m not looking for sympathy. Just looking for some feedback on the experiences of others...

What is it that ties us to our families?

Fight of the Century

It all started innocently enough. I'd just dumped Spike, and was in the middle of a sex-pistol-CD burning, when I was interrupted by that sissy, Xander Harris.

It all went down as follows:

Me: "Xander?" (I walked towards him, hoping that nobody would see me talking to him)

Xander: "That's close enough." (I stopped, thinking, "what's his problem?")

Xander: "I'm warning you: I've been highly trained to put this through your heart. No mercy, no warning." (He waves the stake around at me, like he's some kind of superhero - except for the part about him looking like a moron)

Me: (Thinking "WHATEVER Xander!) "I can kill you where you stand!"

Xander: "Bring it on, then!"

So I bitched slapped him really really hard (with my super-vamp strength)

Xander: "Ow!" (Crying like a baby). Then he kicked me in the shin!

I was like: "Ow! You sissy kicker!" and slapped him in the arm.

We started circling each other and slapping (I made contact of course, but Xander the sissy couldn't even slap me!) I grabbed his hair, and I guess he grabbed mine as well - then he gave up!

Xander: "Get away! Aah! Cut it out!"

I said: "Ow, I'm so gonna bite you!" I was ready to kill him right then and there!

Xander: "Ow... Ok, stop, stop! We should stop, ok?" (He was pleading and crying by this time - like a useless baby). I almost felt sorry for him, so I said:

Me: "Ok, I will if you will."

Xander: "On the count of 3... Uh-huh. Uh-huh. 1...2...3!"

So we let go, and I was like, "Right, ok!" (thinking "get me away from this loser...I've got a rep to protect")

Shows what a nice vamp I am! smiley - biggrin

EPISODE 33 – Becoming, Part I

Words of wisdom from Whistler:

"Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are…"

We see Angel’s past, including the bit when he first saw Buffy.

Buffy and Willow find Jenny’s “Soul Restoration” spell, and decide to try it. Giles cautions Willow about the dangers of channelling dark magic. This will be seen in further seasons.

Kendra returns in this episode, with a sword. She also give Buffy her lucky stake, “Mr Pointy”.

We learn of Dru’s hypnotic power when she kills Kendra.

EPISODE 32 – Go Fish

Buffy goes on a date with Cameron Walker and sprains his wrist and almost breaks his nose when he tries to attack her.

The funniest moment in this episode comes with Willow interrogating Jonathon, to see if he has summoned a fish-demon. Jonathon admits that he peed in the pool! smiley - yikes

Xander is the man of the moment when the girls see him strut his stuff out by the pool!

EPISODE 30 – Killed by Death

Giles comments in this episode that death and disease are the only things that Buffy can’t fight. This will become particularly relevant in Season 5, with Joyce’s illness.

Xander is Buffy’s “White Knight” against Angel (Angel’s words) whilst she is in hospital.
