h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Please tell me :
1. Do you prounce "[ofTen]" or "[ofn]"
2. I thought that LIFT was the British English for "elavator", but POD(Pocket Oxford Dictionary) said that "elevator" was BE. And an English conversation textbook by Cambridge University Press(this one is using BE) shows LIFT for elavator

I do understand that languages is living, but would like to know about present British English in use

Do hope most of you here (listed in my friends here) tell me about that.

ofTen is how I pronounce often, and lifts are lifts not elevators. Elevator is definitely American English.

its hard to write how we speak, if I was to read Yorkshire dialect, I'd be stumped at first few words

We have also lots of strong accents to speak Japanese area by area which make us confused to communicate sometimes

Yorkshire is one of my favourite place in the UK though I just visited Haworth twice (3 days) when I was in Exeter YEARS ago

well, without bragging, we are one of the greatest people to know, strangers are made welcome as if they have lived here for years and everyone is treated with the same respect

I wish I will visit there once more
