Hey! How does not understanding someone's behavior suddenly make me cruel and vindictive?

Just that you don't seem to see things from anyone else's point of view.

So how does that make me a bad person? Why is that wrong? I was under the impression that our culture does its best to embrace diversity; isn't my "point of view" supposed to be just as valid as anyone else's?

You're right, your point of view is just as valid as anyone else's. But everyone's point of view is valid... so so is the person's you make no effort to understand.
Maybe your different than me, but in order to treat people nicely when they do things I disagree with, like the hypocrites we were talking about, I have to try and see things from their point of view. I want to understand why they do it...

Hold on a minute. Just because I don't understand it doesn't mean I don't /try/ to understand it. And if I disagree with someone else's point of view, I'm going to say so. I don't see why that's so terrible either; it's not like I'm punching them in the face or anything, I just want them to be able to justify their position.

I just watched Princess Bride. I do like that movie.

Years always seem longer than you think they'll be.

Yep, that's a good movie. They just made a video game of it in fact; although I don't know if it's any good, as I haven't played it.
