Hiya, don't you just hate it when someone buts into a conversation without even introducing themselves first!

I would be surprised if our "guest" is much over twenty...if I'm not careful I'll be jumping up onto my soapbox in a minute and going on about the young generation!

I hate to sound like some old fart, but I really do believe the kids of today don't have anything like the respect or manners we had (I'm 46)!

No they don't!!!! and I know because about 5 months ago I was at another mall and I was the manager of the juniors department (teenage girls) I was in that area for 3 years and I was soooooo lucky I didn't kill one of them!!!
I part of the problem really is how they are being raised, I can tell you that in the US most parents seem to act like raising their children is everyone else's problem not theirs, but heaven forbid you might try a discipline their little darling brat, because they will sue the hell out of you!!!
We had a case in Houston not to long ago where the parents of a 9 or 10 year old boy were suing the school board because they said that they illegally searched their sons locker at school, they found a loaded handgun in it!!! I just want to know what the world is coming to!!!
Oh and once I had a 13 year old girl cuss and swear at me, her mom was standing right next to her and never said a word!! I called security on the teen, mom had to pay a fine!!!!
Okay I guess you can see it's also a sore subject of mine!! The sad thing is it's my generation raising these brats!!
Oh 12 years younger

May I be a trifle indescrete my dear and ask your age (you may whisper it to me, I won't tell a soul, honest!)

Then we're pretty much of the same generation. I agree with you 100% when you place some of the blame on the way they're raised. Their parents think it's anyone's responsibility but theirs.

So it's the same there as it is here??
I also think that too many parents now seem to be totally self-absorbed with themselves!!

I think the USA and the UK are very similar countries in many ways. We like the same things, dislike the same things, follow the same political agenda's and unfortunately, seem to experience the same problems!

I agree that we are very similar in a lot of ways!!! Which is not always a good thing!!
So how are you today??

Hoon Posted Sep 6, 2003
I'm great, enjoying the weekend off work. Soon (after 15th) I'll be working split shifts so I'll only get I weekend in three off.
Do you realise we're holding two different conversations simultaneously! Aren't we a clever pair!

Oh!! You will be like me then!! I have to work today but I am not due in until 1 and I won't get off until 11 tonight but it is nice to have at least some of the day!!
Yes I did!!!

Hoon Posted Sep 7, 2003
From 1 until 11pm, that's a long day. Is that a normal shift over there?
Manners!
MISS MARTINI(SHAKEN NOT STIRRED) Posted Sep 7, 2003
No onlt when you work retail and you are on salary!! Normal hourly people would be 5 or 40 hours a week, anything else would be overtime, but the labor laws do change from state to state!! CA had much better labor laws than TX, in CA you got paid time and a half if you worked over 8 hours a day or if you worked on a holiday, oh but that state income tax and that sales tax of 9% really stunk!!
But back to the subject, yes I am normally scheduled to work a 10 hour shift, 5 days a week, except for the holiday season(Nov. 22- Jan 10th)in which it is 12 hours a day, 6 days a week!!

Hoon Posted Sep 7, 2003
Wow, that holiday season sounds like a real killer for you!
I'm sorry you are going through a second divorce, are you hurt? Are you OK? (Sorry, this really belongs to the other conversation!)
