Like what?? I know about his property, I know he lived in Gwinnett County Georgia, which is still where a lot of my father's family lives, how many kids, and their names, what else should I find out??

where he came from originally. Who his parents were, who he married and who her parents were. If he was ever arrested. How he died. What did he leave in his will, who were his children, the list is endless, and only limited by your imagination!

well I know where he was born, I know who his wife is, I know who their kids were, and I have seen tax records!! I even know where he is burried, but I think I said that would not be a proud part of my father's heritage and at least I share no blood with that line!!!

There are a lot of the same kind of people in his family!! The first one I can find was born in Virginia in 1703, only gives his parents place of origin but no names, from there they went to South Carolina and then to Georgia!! I have found birth records and tax reecords on several of them, thanks to the Mormon church who is very big on family history, they have a large website in which they have complied lots of documents to help you trace your famalies history!!

That's useful. When you said "his" family, did you mean the plantation owners, or your ex-partners?

MISS MARTINI(SHAKEN NOT STIRRED) Posted Sep 20, 2003
No I meant my father's, remember I am adopted so legally it would be my family also, but not genically!!!(is that a word?? hahaha)

MISS MARTINI(SHAKEN NOT STIRRED) Posted Sep 21, 2003
No actually there isn't!! Just what I told you about, where my grandparents were born!! It actually can take a very long time to find out anything, H**L I just found out what time I was born and how much I weighed!! Still don't even know at what hospital I was born at!!! This is actually becoming a more upsetting thing the more information I get because then I realize how much I really don't know!!! Does that make sense???

Yes it makes perfect sense. We don't realise how much there is to know about a person do we? The actual amount of information about a person's life is huge. If we never knew the person we are researching personally, then we take the info in drip by drip as it were, and it can be maddingly frustrating. It could take you years to complete the search, and even then you have no guarentee of completing it.

Yes the process can be very madding!!!!! That's why I have hired a company to help me, I thought about just hiring one to do it for me but it is very expensive!!!

It's a little over $1,000 and that's just for finding out things on this end!! but there are so many different elements that go into it that it is totally worth the money!!! Thank you though!!!

Don't mention it. If there's ever anything I could try and find out for you this end, don't be shy about asking.
