Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans)

I'll save you all the bordem of reading about my inability to stock pile plastic minitures ready for Uni and instead write about my trip westwards for you all to ignore instead (see, no tripe for you people to ignore, oh no).

With my University accomodation all sorted, and my loan soon to be sorted I'm looking at my funds and feelings rather cunning. You see, It works out that I'll have £700 to spend at Uni. Now because my dad's wife is a saint I wont have to buy food - she's taking me shopping at the weekend. Result or what?

So thats £700 to play with. Now lets be reasonable and put £100 aside for books etc (only 100 cause I'll support any other costs with painting). Lets knock off another hundred for sensible things like beer and going out - better make that £200.

This leaves me with £400 pound to play with. That of course ladies and gents doesnt include anything I'll get as going away presents, Birthday presents and the like (aka the Christmas fund), and also assuming I dont get a job or make a mint from painting.

So call it an even 400 pound sterling to roll around in shouting 'its mine all mine'.

So what am I drivilling on about then? Why the hell am I going on and on about all this. Well its quite simple - Ireland. I've always wanted to go. Ideally I'd go on Saint Patricks day but I've been reliably informed that its not widely celebrated. Instead I'll just go about November December-ish, or failing that Easter for definate.

I dont know why but Ireland just feels right to me because:

England - Sort of like a sleep over country. I'm happy enough to hang around but when I can I'll leave. Too many chav's and TFC (Temporary Football Chav's. Doesnt matter what there like normally, once they see the ball they go into full chav mode)

Wales - I've been Wales too many times. Seriously. I dont hate the Welsh people or anything, or even Wales itself. Its just you drive through and you can imagine someone saying 'hey lets put a load of jumbled up letters beneath the English names, that confuse people!*'. Imagine your street but a bit louder with music, and slightly gaudy colors.

France+Belgium - The same really. One has a tunnel. Thats the only differance. Ancestoral warfare and general poor showings in warfare make me no like the French. Okay so Napoleon did alright, but he wasnt French...

Germany - Sort of the opposite of France. I remember very little of Germany but would visit. As Rimmer put it 'the runners up of world war 2'. Probibly along the same lines as my liking of the Japanesse.

Greece - Welsh writting, hotter climate, Ouzo. I liked Greece because it was different. There was all the funky pillars and such, although I external curse all the trips because of the things I didnt see meaning I have to go again. Never went to Thermopolyae, and never went to see some Spartan ruins, or even a Spartan Museum.

Italy - My mams mate lives there on a farm with her husband and kids. It was alright but nothing seemed to happen or to be changing. Her husband and his brother are building a two storey house for both there familys to live in. Odd. Oh and they've been building it a decade.

Gran Canneria, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Majorca - The same thing split up. Majorca has more shops, Lanazarote has a volcano (and a very scarey runway). The carvery is my favorite memory from all these places. My did that food taste good.

Ireland - went once, shouldnt have left.

Now I'll get going, I have some things to look at before I decide where it is I'm going, and how exactly I'm going to get there remains a mystery...

*Yes I know its Welsh Gaelic, I still dont like it.

So what's the reason for going to Ireland again?

Secretly Not Here Any More

I know we agreed not to speak to each other, but you're just so ignorant it's untrue and I have to at least put the other side of the argument accross to prevent people reading this and going "hmm, yeah, he's right."

France+Belgium - The same really. One has a tunnel. Thats the only differance. Ancestoral warfare and general poor showings in warfare make me no like the French. Okay so Napoleon did alright, but he wasnt French...

NO, NO, NO and for a fourth time NO!

France and Belgium are not THE SAME REALLY. Does Belgium have a Mediterranian coast? Is France the seat of the EU parliament? Did France fight the wars of religion against Spain? Did Belgium produce such luminaries as Voltaire and Victor Hugo? Did Belgium have the 'Brussels' Commune and initiate the modern theories of socialism? Did Belgium control one of the largest overseas empires of the 17th-19th Centuries? Were Human Rights first granted to the masses of Belgium? Do a large proportion of the French people speak Walloon as a first language?
NO!

"Ancestoral warfare" - We've (the English) not fought the French since 1815. The French have never fought against the Irish (the other side of your heritage). An if you paid attention to history, you'd know that in the last three European conflicts (Crimea, WW1, WW2) England and France were ALLIED!

"general poor showings in warfare" - Look up Charlemagne, de Gaulle, and Petain. Look up the Medieval Wars against the Moors, The Crusades, Verdun in WW1 and the French Resistance in WW2. Also, look at the three great European Imperial powers pre 19th Century. Britain, FRANCE and Spain. Just because the Americans call them 'surrender monkeys' doesn't make them inept. Oh, and Napoleon is CORSICAN. Which is an island owned by FRANCE. By your logic, someone from the Isle of Wight or the Isle of Man isn't English. Check again.

I don't have time to disprove the rest of your woefully inaccurate sweeping generalisations because the University library is shut, and I'll be unsubscribing anyway. If you want to continue this debate I suggest you leave a message on my Personal Space. Otherwise do some research before attacking most of Western Europe.

You'll of course not read this psyc, nor will you be lurking of course, but I too feel compelled to reply here - rather then going to your personal space for a conversation that will undoubtably devolve into an arguement.

What can I say? I went to France, I went to Belgium, I couldnt tell the difference. Sure there are differences, but to someone travelling around there little difference unless you choose to look for it. Napoloen was Corsican. Fair nough, though I can guess until he became Emperor (or at least in his younger years) he would have been proud of his heritage. Walloon ay? Fair enough. Though I distinctly remember using french to get around, so I probably assumed there (For me - using the age old saying - if it quacks like a duck, then its a duck. Not, as in this case, if it quacks like a duck then in all possibility it may not be a duck and is more likely a moose or a foreign exchange llama).

No one's forcing you to post on MY journal. I'm happy enough to stay off yours out of mutual agreement (if you distinctly remember you asked me to leave a week or so back and I happily obliged), no matter what I read on your journal I dont post because I'm making an effort to try and stop this pointless sniping thats pretty sad and annoying now. There really is absolutely no reason for us to ever talk on here again. Same with you HPB.

Though of course, you won't read this because *edited out just in case of moderation*. Which I thinks plain to everyone.

HPB - Re-read the entery

I don't need to re-read, I'm actually asking what your reason for going to Ireland is beyond eliminating other places you have been.

To quote myself:

"So what am I drivilling on about then? Why the hell am I going on and on about all this. Well its quite simple - Ireland. I've always wanted to go. Second sentence.

Like I said, you needed to re-read it.

Probably the first two sentances.Namely 'I dont know' and then describing the current nation of residence as a sleep over country.

Like I said, you needed to read it again
