...I'm confused. As to your leaving that is. As a researcher(s) you seem to unique to let go of easily, but that's your choice and I wish you (all) well.

Don't worry, Nyssabird. Susan Calvin isn't completely gone.
She was a hive researcher consisting of Eto Demerzel, R. Daneel Olivaw, The Last Imperial, R. Giskard Reventlov, Inverted Solipsist, Agnostic Primist, and Evolutionary Theist. Two of her avatars, R. Daneel Olivaw and Eto Demerzel elected to stay on H2G2, along with me (also created by the same "real-world" person).
Susan and her avatars will return in a few months. However, they decided to lay low for a while until the contraversy over some statements and actions that they made on the Guide that offended quite a few researchers.
Don't worry, Susan and Co. will be back.

Don't say she and he'll be too much longer - I need backup on some of my ideas from Agnostic Primist and possible Inverted Solipsist, and I'd enjoy some challenges from ET and RGR respectively. Things are slow on HooToo without 'em.
What exactly was the controversy? Was it about the thread?

OK, Fnord. Here's my explanation (I'm speaking for all of the avatars and personalities in this body.).
My origional reason for disappearing was the thread, and a politics thread where R. Giskard got in an arguement with some people about global warming and the ozone hole in which he made himself look like an absolute moron, and offended some people. Frankly, I am still embarassed about the fish thread, I misrepresented both you and Jane, and made myself look like a moron to a lot of people who I actually respect. At least Hoovooloo didn't seem to think it was elitest, just impossible. I didn't plan to stay away for long.
However, life interceded. I'm 16, too, and I just started my junior year in high school. AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, US History, Physics, Health, and Orchestra add up to a lot of homework and I haven't had much time to use the guide.
As for your request that I/we come back, here's my responce:
I'm not going to bring back all of my avatars to full use; I was over extended. I will try to come back on more (mostly as Agnostic Primist and RDO. I don't have time to explore opinions I don't often hld (like ET).
However, since you want backup for your ideas, here's my solution.
If you want to talk to me, or want me to back you up about something on the guide, email me at [email protected]. I check that address about once a week and will do so more often if at all possible. I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. Is this satisfactory?
I really would like to get back--most of my interpersonal contact comes from this website. I only talk about school with people at school and I only have one friend who doeesn't go to my school, and I have little in common with him. Talking to you, Hoovooloo, Noggin, and others here is very enjoyable and I hope to get back to it soon.

I'm sorry for my disappearance. (Confidentailly, the fact that it is you asking has a lot to do with my discision to come back.) You, Hoovooloo, and Justin the Preacher are the main things that have kept me from fading off of the guide over the last year. I discovered Justin just as I was about to leave, and I felt a need to deal with him, plus it was fun. When he left, I stayed primeraly becasue Hoovooloo was interesting to talk to. Then I met you after I set up the IS and AP accounts.
The fact is that I only end up spending a lot of time on the guide when I meet people who I either agree with or disagree with a lot. People who I disagree with slitely get boring because I either start to accept their views, or I just "agree to disagree"--I decide that talking to them is pointless, as I don't really want to make an enemy of them by pushing my point.
Finally, I am going to try to sharpen my focus on the guide; I can't get into everything.
I'm going to try to stay out of politics because it depresses me too much. I'll try to keep my discussions to science, science fiction, and theology/skepticism, although I'll probably broaden, anyway.

Thanks, 'preciate it. Odd most the intelligent people here are either 16 or in their forties, and very few in between. Check out the meaning of life thread. Actually, I probably won't get much support from you since you probably agree with who I like to call the "evolutionary utopianists".
That I'm one of the few people keeping you here is very flattering. As for the interpersonal contact, I'm doing philosophy with some people I know in college, but that's the only slightly intellectual stimulation I get in my whole life. I can practically feel my IQ dropping...
I, too, have decided to stay out of politics: it is depressing, repetetive, boring, and I offended some people on a "What's Wrong With Americans?" thread.
I must say...

Could you explain what you mean by "evolutionary utopianists"?
Also, is it OK if I keep calling you Fnord?
