Thank you, thank you, lol. Ah, so you are in sunny Florida. Very nice although we have seen the sun here today. Wasn't in it much but I did see it! I'm back from real life until Monday morning.smiley - smiley

I'm not in Florida for much longer. I'm moving to Alabama in about a month. At least I'll still be near the beach, not that I ever go.

So where do you hail from? Don't need to be too specific, country (or state if American) would be fine.

Good morning. smiley - smiley A lovely one it is too! I'm from just outside a city called Norwich in the county of Norfolk. It’s a really nice area on the east coast of England and a great place to live. Of course the sun doesn't shine as much as it does in Florida! I stayed in Georgia for a while a few years ago (quite a few years ago) and we used to drive to Florida to a place called Turtle Beach which was a lovely place for a BBQ or to relax. I don't know if you know of it. Also stayed in TN and visited NC and SC but I’m not familiar with Alabama. Are you looking forward to a move? I'm a bit of a traveller when money and opportunity presents itself. I have itchy feet and I love adventure, travel, meeting new people and everything else that goes with it. I've been lucky enough to live in a few different countries, visit quite a few more and had some great experiences along the way.

I’ve been reading the posts on my body beautiful. Thank you for everything you have said and I appreciate your comments. If you are wondering why I haven’t responded to SC myself it is solely because I don’t consider some people worthy of a response. If I were to respond it would be ‘one time only’ and I doubt if SC would appreciate anything I had to say. I’m not trying to defend myself here especially to you because I know I don’t need to. Nevertheless as a new researcher it really is off-putting to read such ‘belittling’ comments from people such as SC. I have accepted most of the criticism or observations made by others as I felt they were valid and also delivered in a positive, friendly or helpful manner. I really appreciated that. smiley - biggrin SC needs to visit some links on how to ‘criticise positively and constructively’. Even SC would learn a thing or two! Needless to say but I will not be rushing back to the PR review forum in a hurry, if ever!

Still I’m more than content. I’ve discovered ‘the best’ people like you, JWF, and Gecko and I expect as time goes by I will discover many others. I need little else to make my presence on h2g2 an enjoyable one. Thank you for being part of that!

Turtle beach sounds familiar. I think it's to the south of me, but I'm not sure. I currently live in Sarasota, where the old folks roam. I just can't take it here much longer. Four years is enough. None of them know how to drive, none! Road rage is a pretty severe problem here in sunny Sarasota. So I guess I am looking forward to the move. The wanderlust bug has bitten me as well, it seems. I haven't yet had the oppurtunity to live in any other countries yet, but different parts of America can be different enough to seem like a whole different country. If I keep telling myself that I may just believe it.

The only BBQ worth eating is within 100 miles of Memphis, TN. I was spoiled at an early age. If you're ever in that part of the world again, it's definately worth the experience, even if Memphis isn't that great of a town.

I'm flattered to be grouped with those two. I'm often awed by some of the people I meet here on hootoo, and ~jwf~ is one of them. From what I've seen the people in the AWW are a lot nicer and more accepting than those in PR, but that might be that it's because we support the writers over any goal in the site.

I think I may get myself banned from PR for a while for what I've said to SC. I was trying to be as polite as possible, but SC was just begging for it. I posted at least six links that dealt with the validity of the treatments you discussed and still get that posting. I should really check my anger sometimes, still some people beg for it. I'm a little lucky that my one foray into PR was treated so nicely (a martini is near and dear to most of us), but what you've seen has been rediculous. I'm thinking of testing the boundries of the guidelines shortly. If enough entries storm the gates one will have to get in, and all that's needed is a precedent.

Sorry for rambling on like that, and I'm glad to hear that PR hasn't soured you on hootoo!

Good morning and hello! smiley - smiley Thanks for your message. I don't want you to have any kind of problem over SC, not worth it. Even so I do thank you. Did you steal the sun this morning? Its wet out there! I don't know Memphis but I lived in Knoxvile for a while. I also lived in Hong Kong and Greece, about 5 years between the two. I certainly improved my use of chopsticks. HK is an exciting place to live.

Don't sweat SC, they're just another petty tyrant ruining what could be truely great. I've had my say and I'm leaving it at that. I'll still lurk around and see what developes, but not much more than that.

I'm starting to become a bit jealous of you! All your travels! I'll see those places eventually, just a matter of time. I hear that Greece is a beautiful place.

Nope, no sun here, it's still dark. I think I'm five hours behind you, although it might only be four because of that weird American daylight savings crap. Still night out, but it will be bright and sunny all day, while I sleep.

I'm glad to see that as it was not the most comfortable feeling. Hopefully the end of that so now on to brighter things. smiley - smiley Greece is indeed very beautiful. I lived right on the NW coast and it was a really nice town. The scenery was amazing and from my apartment I could lie in bed and see the ocean. From the kitchen window I could see the mountains. I loved to sit in one of the numerous taverna's and watched the world go by. I will tell you the almond story one day if you want to hear it.

Good morning! Hope everything is good in your world. I have an old college friend from Wiltshire (near Stonghenge) visiting at the moment. Have another local friend visiting this evening so it looks like we will be re-living our college days and enjoying a girly night and a few glasses of wine! Oh er, something tells me I am heading for a hangover. Ah, the almond story, its a bit of a silly story but I will tell you it soon. I'm about to update my body beautiful, ha, oh err! Have fun with your friends, and to avoid the hangover drink two glasses of water before you pass out. If you can get some B vitamins in you as well that will help with the hangover.

Be good to see you back in the AWW!

Hi, not sure my other entry is as interesting or as controversial as BB (which I’ve changed again) as it’s a bit more technical and maybe boring for some (yawn)but I felt it a good topic as most of us probably don’t think about the importance of water that much, we just turn on the tap. I have certainly tried out a few different writing styles over the last few weeks and most of the comments have been positive, well apart from you know who! smiley - winkeye

The Greek Sugared Almond Story. - While I was living in Greece I was invited to a Greek wedding and as it was to be my first experience I very much looked forward to being part of this great event. It took a ferry trip and a rather long drive to reach the village where the ceremony was being held. Standing at the church I could hear many cars honking in the distance to let you know the bride was arriving and she looked truly magnificent. Before we went into the church all the guests were given a small white bag tied with lace which upon opening I discovered was filled with sugared almonds. It was a long ceremony and I was hot, thirsty and hungry (well that’s my excuse) so I started to nibble on the sugared almonds. Needless to say, by the time we arrived at the reception my sugared almonds had gone. It was only later that evening another Greek guest mentioned it was a traditional for females to put the bag under their pillow that night and the tale goes that you will then dream about the man you will marry. Waaaaaaaa, too late for dummy here, I was as sick as a parrot (maybe sicker) to think I had missed out, lol. A few months later I was invited to yet another wedding. This time I was determined not to let the same thing happen again. Once again I was given the sugared almonds and I kept them safely with me all day and evening and when I got home I couldn’t wait to put the elusive almonds under my pillow. Waaaaaaa, this time I had left them on one of the tables at the reception and I never did get to see if it would work………Life is hard isn’t it, lol.

Any closer to the move? Hope everything is going well for you.

smiley - laugh That sounds like my sort of luck! Always just missing the big deal. I'm not laughing at you, it just struck me as funny. I have a strange sense of humor.

Did you -just- add more? I read through it again last night! I guess I'll just go and read it again. I swear it looked fine to me in the AWW! I had no idea!

I tried to read the water peice too, interesting subject but my American attention span wouldn't let me finish it. I'll try to read it again, and hopefully make it through.

Well, my timetable for the move has been moved up yet again. This time to May 2nd, if everything works out. Otherwise I'm out on my ass yet again. I really should be more organized in life, and stop procratinating. There is a long story behind that, but it's not important so I won't waste your time (unless you want me to). RL can be so intrusive.

Re:The story of Joshua

Post 36

This is going to be a longish post, so come back to it if needed.

RL is 'Real Life' as opposed to online. It's where pesky things like that pile of dirty laundry reside. Online is so much better, always clean when it supposed to be clean, people are more friendly, and there is no dress code (except I'm online at work, where there is a dress code).

I'm not writing anything at the moment, although I'm thinking of writing about tequila. It is a much misunderstood beverage. I do have an entry in the AWW right now, it's a dry peice about a fictional weapon, the Anti-Vehicular Cheese Missile, or AVCM. I wrote it in about an hour and a half while wired to the gills on some good coffee. I'm not a good writer, everything seems to have this flat quality to it when I'm the guy that said it. Eh, I'm a musician, not a writer. Whatever I have to say comes across better when I play it. Oh the injustice of spending much of my time where no body can hear me! smiley - winkeye

Hmm, what do I like to read? On h2g2 I read everything that's in the AWW, not an easy thing to do. I also read 'The Errors Of Comedy' in <./>ThePost</.> every week. Basically anything that's original and captivating. While online I'm usually researching one crazy notion or another, though I'm not sure if I'm ready to submit them to the rigors of PR just yet. Not many people will appreciate what it is I have to say on the state of affairs right now.

Off h2g2 I tend to read mostly fiction of various sorts although I do enjoy the occasional bit of religion and philosophy. My favroite RL authors are Stephen King, Robert Heinlein, Clive Barker, Neil Gaimen, H.P. Lovecraft, and the list could go on for a while. Right now, however, I'm reading Robert E. Howard's Conan stories. Surprising how well written they are for the subject matter. I just can't seem to get the old Conan movies out of my head while reading the books.

I guess I've put off the story as long as I can.

Back in '02 I was arrested on some drug charges. The part that really chaps my ass is that it never would have happened had my roomate not been so careless about who he sold to. Just to ease your mind it was just pot, not something that could actually hurt anybody. When the search warrent was served, I was the one at home and he was at work, so I took the rap for the whole deal. After about a year of legal stuff that I'm not sure I completely understand I went to trial and was convicted of felony possession of marijuana. In Florida it only takes 20 grams to be considered a felony (an ounce is 28 grams). After serving a month in county jail I was placed on three years of probation, which I'm six months into. I've remained clean and free of drugs this whole time and have successfully completed the rehab program they wanted me to attend. The only problem I have with my probation is that I need my PO's (Probation Officer's) permission to move, anywhere. On top of that I'm not allowed to leave the county at all for any reason without express permission from my PO and a travel pass, or I'll go back to jail. Here's where it really gets interesting. I'm leasing my current apartment (same roomate as before) from one person, paying rent on time and just trying to stay out of trouble. Turns out that the apartment is owned by another person that was selling it to the first person, but has not recieved any payment on it sinse October. In December this guy (the second person, the one that actually owns my apartment) starts coming to my front door demanding that I pay him rent instead of the first person (the person that I signed the lease with and actually owed the money to) or I'd be evicted. The problem with that is that this guy looks for all the world like a crackhead and he refuses to show me or my roomate any proof that he actually owns the place or that I owe him any money. I tell him that if he wants money from me he needs to prove his claims and deal with my actual landlord so I'm not paying rent twice every month. He refuses and files an eviction notice with the clerck of the court. At court even the judge is confused on how this situation has come about and sets another court date (the fourth of May) to figure all this out. The problem with that is the crackhead looking owner has attacked my roomate (who has been clean as long as I have) so I refuse to pay this man anything. Well, on the third of May the court will check to see if I have paid April's rent to the clerk of the court, and if not the sherrif will come out to evict me on the spot. Basically I have until this coming Sunday to move. I have a job and a place to live waiting on me in Gulf Shores Alabama, but I need that pesky permission and the travel pass to go there while the paperwork goes through to transfer my probation to another state. I go talk to my PO on Wednesday to try to convince her to approve my transfer and then to persuade her that I have to be in Alabama ASAP so I can get the three month travel pass to do all this with, otherwise I'm out on my ass on Sunday in violation of my probation and facing the possibility of going to prison for five years. I'm pretty sure that won't happen, but I would still like to have that travel pass to cover me in the duration. From the phone discussion I had with my PO it sounds as if the transfer will go through, but she might want me to stay here in Sarasota until that happens, which could be two to three months, when I have to be out of my apartment by Sunday.

Just remember that you asked.

I am thinking positively about this. All I need is that pesky travel pass and I'm golden. Been sober for quite some time, won't go back to my more nefarious ways, and looking forward to starting my own business in Alabama with all that extra money I'll be saving. I've got many plans for my future, I just need that pesky travel pass.

I've got friends that are in good with a few goddesses and they're going to ask a favor or two for me. Me, I'm all packed and ready to go to 'Bama! Everything is in place (well, almost). Have fun at work, or if that proves impossible, don't strangle the morons.

Hello! So you are a musician, how wonderful! I can't believe how many gifted people there are on this site. My friend Gecko is a artist and now you, a musician. I can't paint or play an instrument so you will just have to cope with my silly stories. Some of my real life stories are funnier than anything in my imagination although maybe not suitable for this site!!!!! I also like Stephen King and out of all his books I probably liked The Stand most of all. I also like a writer called Colin Falconer and I've just bought one of his novels called When we were Gods, about Cleopatra. Can't wait to read it, and hope to get stuck into it soon. I read quite a lot of spiritual books and meditation, I find them very positive. Tequila, I am not a great lover, nothing wrong with the drink, just that Pauline (that's me)overdid it one night when I lived in Hong Kong. I didn't realize its affects and felt so sick I was afraid to leave the bathroom. Was still in there asleep on the floor asleep the next morning and have never drunk it since!

I really am sorry to hear about your current situation. Sometimes I feel life takes us to the bottom to learn something important which helps us to get back to the top, and gives us the strength to stay there. You sound very positive and I feel sure that you are on your way up again. Glad to hear you have plans. I trust the Gods of stability and good fortune will be shining on you. I'll certainly whisper in their ear.........

Was that Tequila, or Jose Cuervo? Unfortunately there is a difference. Actual tequila says right on the label 100% agave and is usually more expensive. Everything else is a mezcal/tequila/PGA mix that will absolutely ruin a fun night out. In some respects it's harder to make tequila then it it to make cognac, with many similarities between them. At least in quality control and that sort of thing.

I really should write that entry, tequila has such an undeserved bad name. Unfortunately, once you've been put off by bad tequila pretenders, you can't touch any of it, even the really good stuff.

Don't knock your own art! The ability to weave words like you do isn't something just anybody has. To suspend disbelief and pull the reader into the story, to make the reader care, is quite extraordinary indeed.
