Bit of an update

I got the PhD, and had the degree conferred upon my by the Chancellor of the University, i.e the Duchess of Rothesay.

Susan has - or should have, bloods permitting - her second infusion of chemo on Thursday.

Susan has lost her hair and the eyebrows are going.

She is in her late mum's house - it has a nice BIG garden and is ground-floor friendly. I am in Aiberdeen on account of the work, but the two of us go on long drives (Pitlochry, Ballater, Banchory, Braemar, Edzell, Stonehaven, Newburgh, Fraserburgh, Fettercairn, Alford &c &c all in the last week).

Miah was decidedly dodgy for a while around May/June but has bounced back.

There are plans for a self-build, but it is proving to be a lang sair fecht.

The Uni are ratcheting up the workload.

It hasn't been the Summer we expected.

Nothing to say

S and I have been pretty much tied up with work for the last few days - since Thursday night, in fact. There are vague plans to visit a pal in the next day or so, but as for myself I have been stuck in the cubbyhole buffering ahead for the coming week's lectures. I'll have to phone Geo tonight to see if he has been doing any hospital visiting lately.

Anyhow, ten years in, this journal is now pretty much moribund. I'll update on it for a wee while yet but I'm not in it for the long term. I personally pretty much avoid message boards &c though S continues to browse and sometimes posts.

Yes, I will definitely give Geo a call tonight.

Pinky & Perky

Susan and George swung on by to see a pal out Westburn Road way this morning and found the said pal in a somewhat perkier condition than yesterday, albeit subject to ver' close monitoring.

I have just formally submitted my bound thesis plus electronic version &c &c, and have signed the declaration. Receipt had been acknowledged.

Snags n' mash for tea. A Lynley - Helen has been deaded and there are only two left to go.

Struggling with English land law.

Hospital

I went to the eye clinic this morning. Apparently - seriously - my droopy eyelid is all down to my snoring.

While I was at the hospital I went to visit a pal who had been admitted as an emergency case a few days ago. I found him not in good health, sucking oxygen and looking like he had gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. He has mooted major surgery lined up imminently following which the prospect of dialysis. He is cut off from the internet, and, on hearing that people had been asking after him, instructed me to reply with a 'waves weakly'. I left him trying to eat haggis through a respirator. He asked for some things - Susan may be able to take them to him but we will need to speak to someone who has the kens to his flat as he wants his reading glasses. We will check with the hospital before visiting, and contacts with the hospital and visits will get noted here.

Another pal - a work colleague - has just told me that he is now officially 100% cancer-free.

Teaching kicks off next week.
