I guess quite a lot of it must be down to religious groups as well

From my general experiences of America, their 'unusual' is a lot lot tamer than our 'unusual'...

It does seem to change from area to area... particularly the more dominent groups. Like, where I come from, most people are chaffs (townies) and there are loads of skaters/grungers too... Whereas there are very few goths, a handful of true punks and nobody quite like me But if you were to go to Brighton, you'd probably find that although there are still lots of townies, there are many more true punks and quite a lot of hippies
