h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Yep. And not even into the festering season yet!

Only it doesn't involve food and drink.

Last Tuesday, the 30th November, much of the UK experienced and I was concerned about getting home, but from Chelsea to Chiswick there was snow falling, but not settling.

When I arrived home and went online, many were struggling home, but I foolishly gloated.

So I told folks about the ease with which I arrived home, excluding the hour waiting for a in near-arctic conditions, (due to some stoopid students holding a demonstration in Parliament Square) and then another 90 minutes getting home. But No,,, Snow,,,!!!

A while later I went for an or three. When I left to go home it was a little icy, but nothing major and then, around 100m from home, my walking cane went East, my legs West, and my body due South!!! Rapidly. And it HURT! Or rather my knees did. I thought they were dislocated and lay on my back, moaning. A young lad walked around me at a distance of 10m shouting 'You Man?, then pegged it. A few minutes later a young guy ran across the road, and called a . He then hung around until, 5 minutes later, the arrived.

After a quick once-over by the green-suited and the mouthed word 'dislocation' they carried me into the . A slow check-over and an offer of a visit to the Big House I asked to be walked to my flat, where Mum wondered what had been happening.

The next day and the ankles are swollen and my left knee won't work, so no work for the next three days.

Today, as the pain hadn't reduced, and may have got worse, I went to the Big House where, after a few X-rays, it appears I have an avulsion, or compression fracture in my .

So here I am, a French Connectioned left wing and right drumstick, with the left drumstick only partially usable, and awaiting a cast-fitting Thursday.

Any predictions as to what will happen next?

Trouble is, these things come in threes, so what with the incident and now this incident, I hope the third one either doesn't materialise, or at least doesn't involve physical pain.

You obviously don't need cheering up, or at least, you are putting a brave face on it, but all the same.

I predict(on fairly short odds) that it will all be great. Your optimistic character doesn't allow other possibilities and enforced staying off icy roads will avoid another trip.
