Ofcourse I didn't eat him, being vegetable arian...I took him to the Wetland centre to make new friends and roam free and live a happy little pigeoney life.

Trin, Trin, Trin...what you saw wasn't me shooting Gerald. Why no, it just looked like Gerald. You know how they all look the same, except for the weird browney coloured ones which look different. I was on a secret mission, ordered from the highest possibly orderey person, to take out a particular bird flu infested bird that had made it's way to this fair isle of ours, that which we affectionately call Reasonably Ok Britain.
I rescued and secreted Gezzer to a safe place, far away, for his own safety. I just had to pretend I shot him, for authenticiticityty.

Well, I'm sure it would be ok for you to write to him, c/o me ofcourse initially. What with him needing a period of adjustment and time to settle in with all his new friends. I'll be sure and pass the letters on.
Then, maybe a visit would be allowed, after the lengthy psychiatric evaluation he apparently needs after having lived with you.
