We will be going to my daughter's on christmas day - see them and our three grandchildren. Speak on the phone to our son and daughter-in-law in Canada on the phone and generally have a jolly time.
On boxing day we have our christmas lunch, shared with my wife's sister (widowed) and friend (maiden aunt), I wash up then hopefully fall asleep leaving them to get on with it.

well for xmas we always go to my mums for dinner and spend the day there, that is when i can eventually drag my 4 1/2 year old away from her new presents then just come home later in the evening and relax after the stressfull day!! cant seem to get into the spirit of things this year tho
well im shattered now as im just back in from a xmas night out... 5 course meal and caberet/disco, was a bit rubbish to start but it ended up being quite good so im gonna get off to bed before getting up early for the school run just as well im not drunk only had a couple!!!

Hi Totty,
Classes? Monday evenings I teach calligraphy beginners, Tuesday morning I go to calligraphy (advanced) as a pupil. Mostly I don't learn much on a Tuesday so it's more of a social gathering where we do projects together. and have a good
I also go to a meeting every 3rd Saturday in the month where we have workshops with a real professional calligrapher.
Christmas at Mum's is about the norm isn't it - until you are head of the family and have to entertain everyone else
Does your partner (Clyde) live with you? and have to be dragged to his mother-in-laws along with a protesting daughter? I know our kids didn't like having to leave their new toys to go to grandmas for tea.
Sounds like you had a good night out though - any more coming up? We don't go out like that any more. It used to be the daft season for us - 6 or 7 dinner dances over about 3 months, now we're content to watch the tele?? But there's life in the old dog yet
Looking forward to hearing from you again soon

Clyde???? dont know anyone by that name
im single right now, i split with my partner of 7 years in may this year...my choice but were still on speaking terms, so this is the first xmas my daughters not had her dad here but i doubt shell notice much cos he wwasnt around much when we were together
so its just me and the little one going to my mums, my great-grandparents, brother and step-dad will be there as well and my mum makes a lovely xmas dinner!!
oh iv never tried calligraphy, always wanted to tho. i was meant to go to college when i was 18 to do a calligraphy/sign-writing course but i ended up being stupid and getting a job in a shop cos i moved in with my ex-partner. regret it now tho, although i love the job im in now
i couldve also went to art college as art and design was my strong subject at school
iv no other nights out planned as of yet, but who knows what will happen

Hi Totty
Do look around for an evening class in calligraphy if you are interested in it - it's a very absorbing hobby and will fulfill your artistic leanings I'm sure. I know it now plays a large part in my life.
I've just finished making 24 christmas cards for people in my classes and fellow calligraphers. (Make one - scan then print on coloured card - make centre fold with greetings - scan then print then cut and paste them together) All the tricks of the trade there for you !
If you decide to resurect your interest I'd be delighted to give you every assistance.
I know it must be difficult for you having to go to work and raise a 4 1/2 year old at the same time, without finding time for evening classes though. What sort of work do you do now? Too late to study part time for what you wanted to do?
I worked all my working life in a job that I loved (Civil Engineer) and it makes a huge difference being happy to go out in the morning.
Speak soon
