My Personal Space

Apparently this is "My Personal Space". I've never really been aware of having one of these before... other than when someone invaded it when I didn't want them to, and very occasionally, or rather very rarely, when I wanted them to. (Usually on these occasions I also wanted to invade their personal space but too often they wouldn't let me). I've certainly never before considered exposing "My Personal Space" to thousands-if-not-millions of complete strangers. It's quite scary.

Its also very difficult to know what to say. Of course, it is highly unlikely that any of the readers of "My Personal Space" will ever know who I really am. Consequently, the temptation to mildly exagerate the truth is strong. I could be an airline pilot, an astronaut, a rock star... and noone would ever know the truth.

But then, that would be quite sad. Who am I trying to impress? If noone knows who I really am what difference does it make? So I may as well be honest and give the whole, ordinary truth. My name is Tony Blair and I'm Prime Minister of.... OK...OK...

In fact I am an ordinary 41 year old father of three wonderful daughters (at least I think they're wonderful but I am prepared to admit I may be a little biased). I have been happily - at least for the most part - married for 17 years - which I am quite proud of as its' pretty good going in these days of changing partners as often as you change your coat. I live in the North of England and in the sort of lists that are always popping up in registration forms on the internet my profession would be classed as "Management"

I am also a huge fan of Douglas Adams (not just "Hitchhikers") and was terribly saddened by his death. The only other death that has affected me in a similar way was the death of Eric Morecambe many years ago. How I miss Eric and Ernie. Like Eric's, Douglas's death was so unfair. There is something wrong with a universe that so prematurely takes away someone who gave so much pleasure. I can't bear to think of no more Douglas Adams to read.

So when I heard about H2G2 I had to find out more and to join and become a H2G2 researcher. It is pleasant to know I am in some small way contributing to the legacy of Douglas Adams.

AND WHY HASN'T THE BBC MADE DIRK GENTLY INTO A SIX PART SERIES????

'Nuff Said.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
