Is there a way I can start a guide entry, save it as draft and then come back and finish it later, before it starts being viewed by others?
Welcome doobarz
Laura Posted Jun 26, 2003
No, though you can create an entry and come back to finish it later by just clicking on 'edit'. If you start writing, and don't submit for review until you've finished, it's unlikely anyone will read it before hand.
Some researchers prefer to write in wordpad or notepad and then copy and paste when they're ready.

Here goes...
Try taking a look at the <./>guideml-clinic</.> to learn how to format. It's a bit heavy going, but will help. Underlining won't be accepted for the edited guide. Instead you can use bold and italics . Other basic commands include
(paragraph)
Take a look at <./>peerreview</.> and <./>writing-guidelines</.> as well

Right, I've put some entries forward to the Collaborative Writing Workshop - I replied to something there ages agi, and it has not been replied to - how can I ensure people will read and comment on my work?

Nobody really ever looks and collaborative writing workshop.... If they're not finished, maybe just put them into writing workshop, you're much more likely to get a response there...

Are you using the Brunel skin?
If so, go to 'collaborative wrting workshop' and find your entry in the list, next to it should be an X. Click it to remove the entry.

I'm still on Alabaster - not really got to grips with which skin does what - is there a difference?

Laura Posted Jun 30, 2003
The skins are quite different, the buttons have got different names and are in different places. Conversation lists and so on are also in a different format. Brunel has also got shortcut keys for Guide-ML when writing articles.
If you're using alabasta, then I think you'll find a 'remove' button next to your entry on the list of articles in the workshop. Just press that then re-submit to wrting workshop.

Sorted then
The 'what skin is best' causes endless debate... Alabasta's just too plain for me. Goo looks good, that dark blue back-ground and blobby edge is very nice. . I like the Brunel shortcuts however, so use that most the time. It's also quite useful to have your conversation list at the top of your page, so you don't have to scroll all the time.

The reviews do tend to be critical, you have to be prepared for holes being picked at your work... But the people there know their stuff, go along with the changes and you'll mke it a great article.
