h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I got the 'there has been a problem with the page' when trying to open h2g2, so I switched to Pliny.

I still like the look of it - and that's where it ends.

Maybe one day it will be usable, but until then I'll stay in Brunel.

I still really, really *dis*like the look of it. I'm still slightly annoyed that the BBC dumped that appearance on us, then ran - it's like crapping on the carpet just before you leave a party you aren't enjoying.

Of course, any time one says that it's just assumed that you're just complaining because you're set in your ways and you'll "learn to like it".

Well, I learned to like Brunel, so who knows? A fully functional Pliny is something I'd certainly use, but as long as you are led to the beginning of any conversation and not to the last unread posts, I doubt I'll switch to Pliny a lot.

Its got a few good thigns working non of the BBC skins ever had... Like proper headings on the page, and the conversation list thing is miles better than that on the Barlesque thing I think the conversation links do now work to take you to either the last post in the thread, or the last one unread (I.E., new post since you last posted), but i think we're still missing the ability to go to the first new post, E.G., in a conversation thread your reading, but haven't posted too... that has been logged as a bug though... The headings thing is really useful I find, for me anyhow... but it not being alabaster will take some getting used too.... about 11 years getting used too, going by previous experiances...

Hi all..hope it's okay to butt in...came here via Dmitri's PS. How do I switch to Pliny?

I thought I'd try it out as I can't access my PS in Brunel. (they are working on it, and I appreciate that..and the broken site being dealt with...but Brunel doesn't work very good for me generally now..especially in the mornings..pages not loading etc).

Two things which would improve it a lot:

1. Support for the "My Conversations" pop-up window

2. Something like the "christmas tree" icon in Brunel which tells you which post someone is replying to.

The conversation pop-up is on the list. I hope we'll get that at least, because I find it painful that I have to go back to my space AND THEN I have to open the conversations. In brunel, I go to my space and the conversations are all there.

Can we have a little smiley badger face next to each conversation too?

One way I know this: I tried to use h2g2 last night. (Youze guys were all in bed.) I got error messages, and I was terrified that I had messed myself up. I just came in this morning to see if I'd have to ask for help to get logged in again.

And , it was all there.
