I'm now at Stansted airport and am stranded (sorry - on timed connection, haven't read backlog.

Well, actually I'm not stranded yet, but I could be tomorrow! Belfast is closed already - so Beatrice will be stuck here for a second time.

Anyway there are no flights back to Baden Baden today, so I may as well get my hired car and drive to my mother's and see what happens. It doesn't really matter if I stay here a couple more days. They'll manage at work....

Yes, I made it home. No volcanic ashes prevented me from flying home. I really hope Beatrice will be just as lucky.

The night wasn't too bad, all in all, and I managed to sleep a few minutes on the plane, which was nice.

I read all this adventure after the event. You were already safe at home when I started reading the thread. The nicest picture is the last one, of you smiling because you are safely at home.

I remember this happened to me on the way home from a h2g2 meet a few years ago - being diverted and spending the whole night in Shannon Airport which was closed. But at least that time I was travelling with Azara so I had company.

Many well known faces, as well as some new.

Yes, there are lots of people in Bel's Photos who I don't know, which is a good sign for the community - it's not just the same small group over and over.

So glad you got back safe Bel... Supprized you loaded the photos up before* heading off for some rest, I'd have thought the night in the airport (which I'm guessing was pretty cold, it was here last night ) plus the flight...

So, whereas the old HooToo meets were plagued by bon jovi and bad weather, the newer ones seem to have icelandic volcanic ash and silly airports that close at some early time as their plagues

Hope you can make it home everyone else too who's being affected by the latest volcanic activity...
