My mother always makes one. I sweet talked her into giving me a slab when I visit tomorrow (I'm the only one who eats it in my house so it's not worth making myself - we're doing Nigella's special rocky road bars instead, complete with tacky plastic robins

It doesn't sound like something I would eat. I don't eat Stollen, for instance. It's why we never have Stollen, and I've never bothered to make one.

Andrew had been making a Christmas Cake over the last six weeks or so at his college day. I sent in £5 towards the cost of ingredients, and he brought it home on Friday. It's actually quite delicious with a

As 'the family' might object if I put a bottle of rum in the cake, I decided to disguise the taste by adding a couple of tablespoons of one of Maroc's well known exports (which, though slightly illegal, doesn't seem to be banned by 'the faith').
I await the reaction with interest.
