Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jun 9, 2008
You're just searching for the A number, right? You're not using the "Find pages that link to this page" option in Google?

The "Find pages linked to this" isn't great, because there are a few different ways to link to a h2g2 page:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A34944582
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/A34944582
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A34944582
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A34944582
These would all be treated as different pages.

I'm not really here Posted Jun 10, 2008
I used to type in the code myself, but yes, there is a problem that DNA has so many ways to link to us. Some of the links I found were Collective, and I found one or two from Sense of Place London which are all dead now.

My Romans in Britain entry got linked to in a forum asking for info on English history.
My Cincinnatus entry was referenced here http://jaiku.com/channel/fortytwo/presence/32993968 along with a constellations entry - if you go to the person's page, they have all the front page entries going back for a while. Anyone know who it is?
My Pericles entry is also mentioned on the London Stock Exchange site for some reason.
Tourist Sites in Lanzarote got linked to in a thread where someone was asking what there was to do there.

I have 39 entries, of which 26 are referenced on non-BBC sites. The older ones have the most links, in general.
Most links are search engine cached pages, but there are a few 'proper' references - Wiki links to the Broadmoor Siren; Futtocks sparked a discussion on the QI forum, etc.

I've been checking mine and it's fun. Maybe there should be an article on this - has someone already said that?
We'd have to come up with a good title for this activity though.

Well, there is a website with this name, and apparently, the content was deemed highly offensive at the time.
Funny, really, because you had to be a member to read the alleged offensive content.
