Gnomon - time to move on Posted Apr 21, 2008
"Ding" is the sound made by a small bell.
There's also a word which means a dent in metal, such as in a car, which is spelt "dinge" in the UK and "ding" in the US, but the g in it is pronounced like a "j".

Hi, Everyone,
If you look in your Fonts on your 'pooter' you may find Dingbats and Webdings which can be interesting additions to things like leaflets or small posters or just for fun. If you haven't discovered them yet take a look.

In Microsoft Word, select the Webdings font, set the font size to something big such as 26 and then type NYC (for New York City).

Very nice, but I think that will only work if Websailor has the Webdings font installed.

You mean it is installed somewhere on my PC? And where would I find it?

On my PC, it is: Start / Settings / Control Panel / Fonts

Hmmm, doesn't work for me, even though I have Webdings installed.
I have a lot of fonts if anyone needs some - all free, gathered over years and years surfing the net. About two dozen Star Trek ones <ufo<, a font called very inconspicuously "Parry Hotter", and the one I use for the lettering in my comic, "Year's Supply Of Fairy Cakes"
