Loss of internet - again

Yes, it's sad but true - my PC suddenly decided it would no longer recognise the hardware for the W-Lan wotsit.
Reset, rebootet the PC - no joy. Installed the wotsit again - still no joy. It now shows me the available networks, but can't connect.
I can't even connect via cable, because my PC doesn't seem to have the necessary slot anymore since the husband changed something after the last hard drive crash. (It now has four additional USB ports, though, none of which I have any use for).
I never noticed the cable slot had gone, and I'm sure he'd not have gone without the cable option had it been for his own PC. But then any dodgy W-Lan is good enough for me, I guess.
So, unless the husband will fix things, I will once again have to rely on the goodwill of my sons to let me use their PCs.

I'm sure he was convinced I wouldn't need a slot for the cable, after all, I don't play any online games where you need a stable connection.
I had got used to lsoing the connections everyso often, resulting in lost posts, or lost entry updates when I was very unlucky.
I have no idea what exactly happened now, though.

I hope he'll look at it once he's back from work. I guess I'd better cook something special for tea.

Oh,Bel,
I do feel for you. I would be lost without mine, and I don't let my other half anywhere near my pooter or peripherals but i suppose you have no choice.
Nice meal, dress to kill (optional) bottle of wine and give him the works. It doesn't work for me but you never know

'tastes like sauce' - makes me wonder what that tastes like.
And Webbie: bad idea. I want him at the PC, not , remember?

Sal, good idea, but I think that would be a bit unfair - afterr all, I can use their PCs while they're away.
TiT - I won't go anywhere near the husband's PC.

Thanks, smurfles.
And I haven't printed my bookings yet. Looks as if I'll have to write it all down the old-fashioned way.

Maybe I should do it as long as the PC works at least offline. Maybe another data loss is imminent, who knows?
