I'm far too heavy to do anything so silly smiley - winkeye

I did the London Marathon in 1983: that was quite enough to sate my distance-running ambitions

Interesting reply - 'far too heavy' is a tad ambiguous - are you referring to the running or to the outfit lol

Put it this way: when Dad & I ran the London Marathon, we read a magazine article beforehand entitled "What kind of Marathon runner are you?", which contained the following snippet of information:

"11-12st: Heavyweight"

As I weighed 13st 12 at the time, (and haven't got any lighter since) I quickly gathered that this wasn't something I was going to excel at.

Besides, I'm sure the leather shorts would chafe a bit smiley - winkeye

Well...I'm not a runner either - I do however own a leather jacket - not quite the same as lederhosen smiley - smiley
You ran the London Marathon??? Impressive!

What do you think about the mortality rate this year? Ages ranged from 28 to 52 - scary.

One of those things, I think: adding it up, you can expect about 3 people in any given 50,000 to die on any given day; it looks like the warming up of the day caught a few people's (lack of) preparation out, although I didn't think it was that warm when I went out in the afternoon...

The best comment on the Marathon was by my rowing coach at the time:

"I understand what got you to the finish line; what I don't understand is what got you to the start line!"
