Yeah, yeah, it's that time again...

I was going to post a closet competition yesterday...honestly, but I was too lazy. Well, that and the fact that I went to a bagpipe concert. I attacked an old man who used to pipe and interrogated him for twenty minutes after the performance. Absolutely incredible. I will be leaving...tomorrow to go the Mississippi and pick up my gran. I will be driving, but I will be rewarded by the fact that there will be a barge party and a huge summer, yard dance that I will be allowed to attend. I will get in a bit of skinny dipping and (I hope) a tiny bit of swamp time.
Same closet competition, different day of the week. Rules are the same. Three days, answer all of the questions, and hope to win. A week in my closet with regular meals, one or two baths a day, several walks a day, as well as belly rubs...er...a day. Competition is sponsored by the glorious fuel of most of us...FOOD.
Deciding question: What is the worst way to serve pasta salad? I'm talking about the lovely stuff with a garlic sauce and raw vegetables, cheese, and ham or bacon.
What foods make you nauseous just to think of?
What is the second worst thing you can do to pasta salad? (sorry, my mommy blasphemed against the sacred god of pasta salad last night and I'm seething, still.)
How do you like your meat cooked? (raw, rare, medium-rare, medium-well, you get the point)
What is the strangest combination of food that you eat and absolutely love?

Due to the destruction of my power supply and lack of winner from last week, I neglected to stage a closet competition. In the stead and because I now have a power supply, I will give you three lists.
THE GOOD
-I was too tall for a pair of pants that fit in the waist and hips.
-my Dend. aggregatum is growing a new pseudobulb
-my power supply has been installed successfully
-it was announced that DSL is now available in my area (WOOOOOOOOOT!!)
THE BAD
-I came close to giving Sherman heat stroke
-I have listened to pathetically sappy music all day
-I am not allowed to spend an hour tomorrow trying to successfully figure out what my presents are before I finally open them because it makes my mother and grandmother feel bad (???) although I derive great pleasure from this practice and am extremely good at it
THE UGLY
-nine pallets of sod will be arriving on my birthday, which means, due to the extreme heat (ha, it’s not even Thermidor yet), it must be laid the same day. Might any of you volunteer as slave labor for my birthday?
-DSL will not be installed for several weeks…possibly. I’m really cute, so maybe they'll give?

Guess what it is.

Hmm, another lazy week, but it is summer holidays. I have done very little outside of working and caring for the menagerie. I am rereading some of my favorite books and am working on line drawings to send out. I have been staying up till obscenely late hours of the night and plugging away at my orchids. I just spent two hours laughing myself silly while doing tongue exercises. I am really good at double tonguing, but it sounds messy so I don’t do it often. I am always having to practice single tonguing 32nd notes at high speeds. Nothing new, except that I have found a frosting recipe that kicks some royal butt. Oh, man, is it ever good.
This week’s closet competition is sponsored by cow licks. The theme shall be favorite things.
Do you prefer to be hot or cold? Why?
Deciding question: What would Stacy choose? A pine or an oak?
Name the top ten things you would spend your life doing if you had the opportunity.

Closet competition!!!

Well, it’s been a very interesting and happy week, to say the least. Not much has happened, although I am planning to do an all-day outing with my best friend (Eric the Moron). Amazingly enough, a Sundance film has come to a local theater, so we are going to see that as well as attack the local Goodwill. I found a Sgt. Pepper LP for .30 the other day. WOOT! My grandmother’s house is almost finished, so she will be out soon…I pray. I am waiting for my charges to get back. They’re at a veterinary clinic for checkups, so I’ll have them back tonight. Alice was extremely pleased with them, which means Stacy is happy.
This week, our sponsor for Stacy’s Closet Competition is…well, I guess all of the index card halves taped onto my monitor. Furniture will be the theme. Øyvind was the winner of last week’s competition. All winners should record the number of wins they get just in case mine aren’t accurate, although I only have two so far. I give you three days to answer before the competition is closed. As usual, the prize for the winning question (and yes, you have to answer all of the others to qualify) is a week in my closet with three walks, three or four meals, a bath, and a few belly rubs a day. Maybe I should open my toy box, too?
The deciding question: Within the past five minutes, yet another screw fell out of my chair. How many of the lovelies are left in? (I’m trying to see how many I can have in without the chair falling apart.)
Do you like leather furniture? Why or why not?
What is the most unattractive medium to construct furniture from?
Would/do you allow pets on your furniture?
What is more uncomfortable and what is more comfortable to sleep on than a futon?

Yesterday, I got the privilege of taking a math-placement test to determine what math classes I could skip next year. My adviser had never seen higher marks than mine...on the algebra/trig part. I made a perfect score on that, but I made a 45/100 on the basic computation. No exceptions can be made if the scores average out lower than the standard, regardless of where the dip was, so I will be taking precalculus and trigonometry again next year...in one semested and calculus alone second semester. I take perverse pride in this, except the fact that I missed several questions on plotting lines...
Today! *hoothoothoothoot* We have gotten three inches of rain in the past two days, just so you know. I just my two new orchids by courier, and they are sooooooooo-oooooooooooo adorable. The Stereochilus dalatensis is magnificent. It already had three blooms and one bud that's about to open, but it's still amazing. The plant is *maybe* three inches tall and the wee flowers are about the size of...a dime. They're so tiny and perfect and CUTE! Little, tiny purple hummingbirds. My Dendrobium senile is equally amazing. It's a mini, too, but it is so funny. It's covered with white hair and is extremely interesting. I want blooms on it! *happydances* Wee... The two tinies are hanging on my towel bar where they will remain until the Stereochilus stops blooming. *happydances*
Now, tell me about your day.
