I am a genius.

For all of you that ordered me about and tried to instruct me on the setup of my new (over a month old) computer, I thank you. I'm sure it was sick of being a shoe rack in my closet anyway. I have never felt so technologically inept in my life. It took three or four (my brains are addled) versions of Mindspring to get it going, but it is going. What does worry me is that it connected through a different number than the other computers. I have rebooted this computer a million times and hope it's not sick of me yet. I am having difficulties sending email from my box, but I suppose something is bound to go wrong. I'm not overly worried. I'll see if I can't fix it in a few hours.

You probably can, but be sure that something else fundamental will break.

That's computers for you, get used to it. Like I said, they're not meant to save you time, no matter how "handy" they are...

Its a conspiracy I tell you, they take away jobs from honest hard-working paper-pushers with one hand whilst creating new ones for lazy, good-for-nothing network administrators, call centre workers and general IT bods.
I am a genius.

Well you see I am part of the solution, all you have to o is get off your lazy arse don't use google and go down to your local Libary.
I am a genius.
Tacysa Posted Mar 21, 2004
who uses google? its gone ecommerce. what i do not like about libraries nowadays is that they have removed the good ol'-timey card catalogues in the giant hutches. i hate using the computerized version.

darakat - Now with pockets! Posted Mar 21, 2004
I hate writing out catalogue cards, it takes ages and you need thousands of cards for even a small library.

Tacysa Posted Mar 21, 2004
Think of the people you're serving, darakat! I love card catalogues and they are magnificent.

I hate them with a passion that burns and grows eveyday,
I am a genius.
Tacysa Posted Mar 23, 2004
I love them with a passion so overwhelming the librarians run in fear.
I am a genius.
Mr. Carrot Posted Mar 24, 2004
Och, they're allright. I love the music section of our library... Ahh, the loveliness of sheet music and orchestral scores...
I am a genius.
Tacysa Posted Mar 24, 2004
Ah, you see, they don't have that in any of our puny libraries. They have two Douglas Adams books and two Pratchett books. Talk about PATHETIC!
I am a genius.

My uni library has more academic books than you can poke a stick at.

*Has a personal library over over 400 sci-fi & fantasy books adorning her wall*
That includes the complete works of Shakespeare, several volumes on 'magick' & divination (including Runecraft, pendulum dowsing, candle and crystal magick), the biggest book of 'true' ghost stories you ever saw in your life, 4 dictionaries, a thesaurus and two manuals on repair and maintenance of Minis, a very rare Star Trek book and loadsa D&D paraphernalia.
Whenever I go 'shopping' *shudders* whoever I'm with has to physically drag me away from bookshops, I'm a devil for them. I can easily spend 4 hours and my entire paychk in a bookshop without thinking about it.

Likewise. Just couldn't work in one, I'd be far too distracted by all the lovely books to serve people!
I am a genius.
Mr. Carrot Posted Mar 25, 2004
My problem too... I wouldn't wish to send them off, I would want to keep them all to myself...
