But if they make you redundant, they'll have to pay compensation, won't they ? What are your feelings about it ?

The Liquid Warrior (Vescere bracis meis) Posted May 25, 2005
Oh yeah they'll have to pay me a lump sum, which I believe is tax free. But then what would I do? I am 55, and therefore unemployable as I'm too old. I work in a restricted media, eg radio. It's not like a plumber or electrician who can take his trade anywhere. I would then have to make that lump sum stretch out until retirment and pension would be less as nothing would be paid into it from the minute I am unemployed until retirement date. So I would loose all those years of pension being paid in.

That would be highly unfair, losing part of your pension, it's the same sstem here. I'll keep my fingers crossed tha you'll be able to keep your job.

That's it - make a joke of it, don't let it worry you - if they are determined to get rid of you, they'll just do it, being pessimistic will change nothing.

That was mere selfishness - I was afraid they'd start the whole debate again , hence I directed them to the appropriate thread.
I was so tired that I went and lay down for a moment.

No, but hubby suggested to have a BBQ on Sunday. After I had agreed in the first place, I had second thoughts, remembering that I hate BBQ and so told him I wouldn't want to have a BBQ. Now he's offended
If I miss you before you go, I wish you a great time in the musical, and anyway, a nice time off.

BBQ's are alright if they are done correctly. A friend called Bill says when it's burnt, it's done, but I don't hold with that. I make sure everything is cooked, but it doesn't have to be burnt. Where do you have your BBQ's if you live in a flat?

On the lawn where hubby goes to fly his model airplanes. They have table and benches, even a pavillion, so that's ok, but somehow it's me doing all the work - shopping, making a salad, prepring everything and packing etc, and then get shouted at because I forgot something. It's always been like that, so I decided not to do it anymore. It's only that we don't do it so often, so usually I forget how bad it really is - until I find myself shouted at.

Hmmm you too, huh?
Well What have I been up to?
Hmmm!
Well Thursday morning we collected the photos we'd had enlarged from the chemist and were pleased with the results and bought frames to put them in. Thursday afternoon we went to the West End of London to see the musical Billy Elliot. The boy was a fantastic dancer and singer and we were shocked that the actor Tim Healy, who played the father, could sing and dance, having seen him in so many things where he plays a tough guy. The show was brilliant. We stopped of at the village on the way home for fish and chips. The only decent place to have them. A friend and his wife honked and waved at us at they drove past. The following morning we spent in the garden It was such a hot day Friday. We had the BBQ. Wandering around some shops we saw a sale and I bnought two shorts/swimming costumes. They should have been £12 each but were on sale for £4. I wore one pair while bbqing. Then the two friends from Thursday rang and we invited them over. Alan and his wife Heather and we sat chatting until 2345, sipping wine and nattering. This morning I left for my flat and arrived here at work.
How about you? How're things in Frankfurt? What have you been up to?

Hello Tony, I'm glad you had such a wonderful time
I spent lots of my time off quarrelling with hubby, nothing I do or say is right
The party at my colleague's was cancelled because her father-in-law died on Thursday, so we intended to have our own BBQ last night but again disagreed, so didn't have it after all.

What can I say?
I'm sorry you're weekend wasn't too nice, especially as I had such a good one, well, it was ruined having to come to work from 1430 till 2130, but what the heck. I'm lucky I have a job. I hope the arguement is now resolved and things are back on an even keel once more.
Having left the ID badge at homer, I had to be signed in a wear a visitor's badge. Having worked for the BBC since 1972 it's a bit embaressing having to wear a visitor's badge
I'm a bit luckier than you. Coll let's me be right on my birthday and on Christmas day. It's the best present she can give me

Well, things have calmed down again, but the day's not yet over
I'm trying to look on the bright side of life
We kept our bdges as souvenir, but when Andreas searched for them to take them to school, we couldn't find them, probably hubby threw them in the waste bin

Sherlock Holmes film just starting Hound Of The Baskervilles. I love Sherlock Holmes. Not one of the more familiar Holmes an actor called Ian Richardson. A very good famous actor, but not best known for Sherlock. My favourite was an actor called Jermey Brett. A very old story, too. One of the most famous.

I think I've seen it, but I'm not sure. Don't know the names of British actors/actresses anyway. Exceptions are Margaret Rutherford and Sir Peter Ustinov.

I loved Margaret Ruhtherford. Alright, she was always the same no matter what film she was in. But she was wonderful. I have all the films she did as Miss Marples the female detective created by Agatha Christie.
Sir Ian Richardson, is very famous here, and is famous for a series about a politician who blackmails, murders and steals his way to becoming Prime Minister. His famous catchphrase was: "You may say that, I most certainly couldn't comment" which meant he would say that, but would not be held as having said it, so he could deny it later.
Confused?
Anyway he plays Holmes as a very arrogant supercillious Holmes. uncaring and unfeeling.
Jeremey Brett played him as an eccentric, which I felt suited Holmes better.
