Good afternoon
Online now, but not for very long I'm afraid, there are too many errands on my list, but I'll try to delegate some of them

Sony Awards are for the various different radio programmes and their producers. Our drama section usually does very well. They are marked on quality, scripts, presentation, sound reproduction, content and so on
At the moemnt the big thing we're doing is a series called Robin White in Africa. Which is a series of prgrammes in different places in Africa and the presenter is a man called Robin White. This is obvious, so why did I say it? Because I'm an idiot.

Not idiotic in any way, with the British liking for puns, it could have meant that it's Robin who's white ,which is esp. striking when in Africa

Hi Tony,
don't know yet whether I will be online during the weekend, but will try
Hope you had a great time ,I spent the last two days worrying about the health of my boys, but doctor says it's nothing serious
Coming back to the award once again ( I hope I don't bore you ) is it finished by now ? Is it an international one and do you happen to know whether a German programme has been nominated ?
The channel I usually listen to is HR3, and they already won some international awards with Null Eins Drei Acht Sechstausend (0138600)
which is broadcasted every Saturday afternoon and is quite entertaining, and people can call there under the above tel.no and win all sorts of things if they are lucky
Hope to see you soon
Claudia

I belive it is finished now. It is international. I work for the BBC World Service and it covers most anything, music, drama documentary and so.
Glad to hear your boys are recovering from what ever it was that caused you to take them to a doctor.
Look forward to the pleasure of your conversations soon

Ah, BBc World- it's the only one from the UK I can watch on tv, not to be received on the radio though, but haven't watched it much recently- spending every free minute either on hootoo or reading
See you soon

Ah yes, ye olde BBC World Service. When in Kenya I was trapped by locals who loved the WS. They said they had to listen in secret as President Moi banned the WS, and the only way they found out what was happening in their own country was to tune into us. They said Moi only let the newspapers, radio and TV news tell people what he wanted them to know and not what was really going on.

I wasn't aware that it's that bad in Kenya. When have you been there?
This really is fascinating, do you have to go to other countries often?

In 2003 I went to Egpyt. I did a weeks cruise down the Nile, followed by four days in Luxor Valley Of The Kings, then three days by the Red sea. It was utterly fantastic. I am interested in the history and culture. While studying for my Arts Degree I had to study some of the things from a book, so it was interesting to actually go there and actually see and touch these tombs, and artifacts. I hasten to add I don't get to these places through the job, which is a shame, I am home based. The cruise was a bargain. Due to the Iraqi war several people had pulled out and so they were selling places off cheap. There were only 38 passengers on a cruise ship for 198, so you can imagine.
As to Kenya, we went there in 1998. We did an 8 day safari followed by 6 days on the coast at Mombasa. I would recommend anyone to do the safari. A friend of mine is high ranking in the Boy Scout movement and I visited Badell-Powells cottage and left the groups scarf there, my friend's Group were very proud and excited when I brought the photos back to show them. When I went to Cario, I brought back the photos and the kids were really interested. I'd kept a sort of diary for them and they really were fascinated.

Very good idea of keeping a diary, it's all so easily forgotten after a few years if you don't.I once did so when I was a teen, added the photos afterwards and it's great to go through it today
Unfortunately I usually don't write a diary, only drop a line in the calendar now and then, but even these few documentations help to remember
One day I will go and see all these archaeological sites, at least I am determined to go

I don't keep a diary as a rule, only for the shift to remind what duty I'm on. But I knew the lads would be interested and they were. It was also an aide memorie for which photo went with which site so I could tell the boys what was going on at the time. They were really chuffed about their scarf being hung in their founder's cottage. I bought them a key ring each back so they could have a memory of the time. I don't suppose they'll keep them. As they get older these things don't matter so much, do they?

Some things always do I suppose.I once went to Paris over Easter with a friend and we couldn't book a hotel room before we started as obviously every room was already occupied, but we were young and optimistic , so we just took the train. We arrived late in the evening and I went to the next telefonbox and called hotels at random We were lucky and found one for the night, and I slept soundly. The next morning my friend told me she hadn't slept a wink because of the permanent comings and goings and other noises
When we left the hotel and turned round the first corner we found ourselves directly in front of the Moulin Rouge
When back in Germany my friend bought me a plaquette(?)to fix at the key ring with a red windmill and "Moulin Rouge" inscribed on it and it's been with me ever since it would matter if I lost it

I still have a set of photos and a key ring from Germany and from Paris from when I was a child. I will always remember every holiday and trip by what I have brought back. A friend and I had been best mates from our first day at school and he passed away a couple of years back. What really choked me up was when I was helping his wife sort some of his stuff out and I found the cycling badge. We'd had to take tests at school for bike riding and we'd both passed and as friends swapped badges. They were both the same, but swapping them as kids seemed very important. I have both badges in a drawer at home clipped to a sheet of card.

Well I think that answers to your question whether such things matter as one gets older - they do
I'm off for now, see you soon
