JOHNNY HAS GONE FOR A SOLDIER
Moving On Posted Aug 12, 2005
Wassa matter S'hhh?
Do you want a soldier, too?
Or is it a shield?
If they're Tea Tray shaped, I'd imagine they make wonderful sledges.
Did I tell you of the sory of my dear old dad, bless him?
It was the usual gay affair of mumping on Christmas Eve, but this particular year he'd obviously managed to sneak a couple in at the Office party before he got home to mam, and by 11.00 he was a couple over the eight.
And joy of joys - it actually snowed that Christmas Eve - just a light sprinkle, but enough to make our hill nice and slippery....
So I managed to persuade him to show me how to sledge... we sneaked out mam's best tea tray, slithered down the path, and proceded to do around 70 down our hill shrieking madly.
That was fine.
We hauled it all the way back up the hill, started off again - but I fell off giggling, so dad went flying off back down the hill, hollering Christmas greetings to the little old dears skidding their way to the Midnight Mass.
Ah well... perhaps you'd have have to have been there to really appreciate the daftness.
And mam STILL blames me for the demise of her best tray!

This is interesting - the same post appears in 2 other people's private conversations as well as my own
I thought spamming was against house rules - is this simply a private vendetta, I wonder?
I shall watch your postings with interest IS5416

Evadne Cake,
I placed it wherever Jack had placed his erroneous statement so that he would see it.
It's not a personal vendetta, it's merely an educational elbow in the ribs so that he should not pretend to be that which he is not.
I have just returned from Iraq (where, quite frankly, you are not hearing the half of it) and the genuine people that have been posted there are dishonoured by such wild claims from those that are not there, but pretend to be.
I am defending their integrity as I believe they would defend mine.
Thank you.

I suggest, if you wish to leave a message to Jack you do the far more obvious thing of leaving a message on his PS, rather that littering innuendoes around - it's sooo dog in the manger.
For someone who reckons its not a personal vendetta, your actions (and rather cencorous attitude) strike me more as those of a scorned ex wife or girlfriend; who are you to point out to anyone what they "should" or "shouldn't" portray? How is it all of a sudden your business or become your personal crusade?
Whoever you are, I would like to point out that anyone can claim to be anything or anyone they like on the internet - it's called an Internet Persona, I believe.
And... just one last thing - as far as I am aware, there was absolutely no mention of any destination - so why Iraq, of all places? Why not go for broke and pick Palestine? Or Belfast? Or any of the other, glamourous trouble spots in the world?
If I get anymore trolling like this on my PS I am not going to hesitate in reporting you, so please, go and be a Walter elsewhere. I'm not interested.

Evadne Cake,
Apologies, but I did not realise the personal nature of these boards. I stand corrected. My wife is far more au fait than I with these things.
I further state that it is not a personal vendetta and I am neither ex wife nor scorned girlfriend. I am all I said I was. All the information I have provided is accurate and can be verified by contacting anyone who knows about TA logistics and planning. If you are so inclined, you can contact them via their very stylish website.
As for who I am to point out what someone portrays. Jack has evidently posted his erroneous information for his own ends. What they are do not concern me. The posting of the information does. It's disrespectful to those that do a tremendously difficult job to pretend to be one of them. I am no hero, but many of these men and women are. Those that would trade on their reputation are beyond reproach.
I mentioned Iraq because that is the only destination currently utilising TA units on regular duties. Those in Afghanistan were re-assigned at the back end of 2003. Belfast is under the Fusiliers at present. None Territorial. There are no British forces engaged in the Palestinian conflict (thankfully).
Thank you, I will re-educate myself and post this on his personal messages.

What are the lyrics in that Who song, S'hh? The one about meet the old boss, same as the old boss.
Ah well... it passes the time.

Moving On Posted Oct 1, 2005
All the memories?
Or just that particular track?
and Roger Daltry stance
We won't get fooled again! No No!
Mind you... I always preferred "Join Together" from the Who....or "Baba O'Riley"
I've managed - after a lot of kerfuffle, to download The Stones new album..vintage Stones
(quavers) "Pass me my stick young man, I wish to boogie"
I nearly hit Liam when he muttered "Dinasours" and swept out, little perisher!
