This is not exactly a caption as much as an observation.

This just occurred to me.

Does anyone else remember analogy problems in school? Did they do those in the UK?

I don't even know if they still do them in the US?

You would have to fill in the blank in the analogy, for example, A:B::C:___ which reads "A is to B as C is to blank".

Anyone?

Sure I do. Here are some practice questions for those who weren't tortured by the Miller Analogies Test:

They must still do them, there's test prep online. smiley - laugh

Merkel to Cameron - I thought you meant Barking in London, not that you were Barking!'

Putin, you are looking a little Ruuffff!

I got all but one of them right, Dmitri. The one about Woolf and Thackeray seemed to be a schism of modern versus older, thus Homer would be the right answer, as he was in a previous era than Virginia Woolf.

I can see that reasoning, too, Paul. smiley - laugh

No caption suggestions, I'm afraid, except "Gottle o Geer"

But I disagree that a circle is to a sphere what a square is to a cube. That is one answer, certainly, but a cube is also a square projected vertically (or whatever the geometrical terms are) and a cylinder fits the bill just as well.

I think I agree - and the term is 'prism'. Such are the drawbacks of over-simplification.

You've hit on one of the problems with the Miller Analogies Test. smiley - biggrin

Not to be confused with the 'Miller Test', a legal definition of pornography...also called the 'Three Prong Obscenity Test'...smiley - run
