Marathon des Sables

I read a lovely little book this week. It's called 'Le petit Prince'by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. its about a little prince who lives on a planet called asteroid B612 who fell down to earth to find friends. He has three little volcanoes, one of which is extinct and he uses as a stool. He also has a flower which is unique in the whole universe. He meets a crashed aviator and asks to draw him a sheep, a sheep with a muzzle so it can't eat his flower. In return, before the little prince goes home the aviator gets a most beautiful gift: the sound of laughter from the little boy just before he leaves the earth so that every time the man looks up at the stars he will see them laugh because anywhere between those stars could be the little prince, giggling away.

Next Year April I will run a gruelling 230 km across the Sahara Desert in a race called the Marathon de Sables. It's a 6 day stage race in which competitors have to carry all there food and equipment for the duration of the race. Only tents and water are provided. Yet I know that I will often think of this little prince and I too will smile whenever I look up at the stars during the nights. You can find out all about me and the race on http://www.sahararun.tk" >http://www.sahararun.tk. And while you're there please click on the 'donate' link which will transfer you to the secure server of http://www.justgiving.com/gotomorocco" >http://www.justgiving.com/gotomorocco so you can make a generous donation to Spinal Research, the charity I am running for.

Don't forget to go to you nearest bookshop or library and find a copy of 'le petit prince' or 'the little prince'. you'll never regret reading it.
