But if you wait long enough, they might go away. Me, I dust every week... But I'm so efficient, I do ten dustings at once! smiley - winkeye

Hi, DQ... I've come to pester you a bit, because you're the only Swede available smiley - winkeye Seriously thinking about studying there, now. And so...

1) Would it be very difficult to avoid meat there? I ask because know it was virtually impossible to be a vegetarian in Germany just a few years ago. Everything came with bacon strips smiley - laugh

2) Not asking your medical advice (I know that probably annoys you, people doing that), just your advice as a medical-type person. Since I have a chronic condition that needs to be monitored, do you think it would be a problem to find a doctor that speaks English (at least until I've learned Swedish) in a University town?

Sorry for badgering you! smiley - cake

No,it's no problems being a veggie here. I've raised 1½ (one had a short stint before smiley - burger became part of the staple food again smiley - smiley) and they've been well fed in school etc. Most restaurants have vegetarian options, maybe not always vegan. In a Uni town the options will probably be very good. The restaurants and cafeterias at this Uni are extremely well catered for both vegetarians and vegans. This might have something to do with the fact that this was a center for the "Straight Edge" people once upon a time i.e. in the mid - late nineties.

I doubt there will be any problem to find a doctor who is able to communicate in English. Much of our literature in Med School is in English. At my Uni the 5th and 11th semesters are given in English once yearly, meaning that at least half of our "endogenous" students have done a year of their education in English.

You might even be able to find a German speaking one.

PS B'Elana has my email if you want to contact me directly. Just tell her I sent you. I assume you know how to contact her off-hootoo.

Ah, thanks. smiley - somersault It's sounding better and better up there! I suppose most Unis have to have vegetarian options, especially as they're automatically both Kosher and Halal, as well. Except for wine, those rules mostly have to do only with meat.

And to be honest, I probably speak English better than German by now anyway smiley - laugh I suppose with you up there, as with the Dutch, it really helps that TV isn't dubbed...

Will go badger Bel at some point, then smiley - whistlesmiley - ta

Hi Mala! Sorry for not responding earlier- I've not been smiley - lurk much this weekend due to house cleaning and other boring stuff.

There are four Lair Cats. Three of them technically "belongs" to smiley - dragonprincess and one is "mine" All of them prefers to sleep in my bed, hence my tagline. I'm turning into a hair pin curve any day due to this smiley - smiley

How are your moving preparations going? Does this move mean you've given up the plans of a Master's degree abroad?

smiley - laugh I see. Can't be very good for your back, sleeping like that! But I'm sure it's nice and warm.

That's one of the problems with moving back to Yarreau's for now - four cats and a bed that's only 90x190 cm smiley - doh And Lili can open my door...

I'm only moving there for one semester. I have to wait an extra semester to write my thesis, merely because the institute where I need to write it is on a field trip in exactly the two weeks we're allowed for writing it. smiley - rolleyes This way, since I have no more classes to take, I don't have to pay an extra six months' rent, and the landlord wanted me out anyway so he can renovate and sell the house. Also, I've yet to do my internship, because every time I wanted to do the last required one during the holidays, I ended up in hospital instead smiley - doh

So I can do it at our neighbour's (he happens to be an architect doing exactly the kind of work I want to get into, and a friend of my uncle's) and also renovate the house. There's lots to work on besides the kitchen. I also plan to travel a bit, since I'll have the time - I'll go visit King Bomba in Ireland after the London Meet, and maybe a friend who lives in Stockholm to see whether that would be a good place to study. Then I'll write my thesis in the autumn, and then move on to wherever I'm doing my Master's from there. smiley - smiley

Sorry, long post. Can you tell I'm procrastinating packing more boxes? smiley - whistle

smiley - goodluck with your internship.

Stockholm...nu-uh... boring big city wannabe inhabited by countryside derived brat wannabes... Nice to visit an extended summer weekend, stroll around, have dinner at Auntie's, visit a few museums..

...then the fast train back to the airport and back to the Far North smiley - laugh (where there's a Master programme in architecture, I think)

Back to smiley - cat and bed topic. smiley - chocsmiley - cat has the habit of jumping up and place himself on my chest when the alarm clock goes off. There are few things in the world more sleep inducing than a purring cat. Since he's a small cat - weight around 3kg - I usually go back to sleep and become late for w*rk.

smiley - laugh My friend seems to like it, but then he's a smiley - geek who tries to avoid going outside. And he picked it because there's a cricket team (he's from India.)

That does sound far too cuddly to get up! Three of ours are around that size. The fourth is huge. Not fat, huge. Almost as tall as the dog, and weighs over 7kg smiley - doh When he's on top of you, you stay put.

The Lair Cats are not ...smiley - erm... starved... at least not the ladies.

Li'l kitty smiley - blackcat is about as long/tall as smiley - chocsmiley - cat but weighs almost twice as much smiley - yikes. Her small paws squeezing in between your ribs when walking across you is very painful. smiley - cat is also chubby but weighs less than smiley - blackcat in spite of being a larger sort of cat. Her previous owner claimed she was part Norwegian Forrest Cat, but she doesn't look like that. Lynx smiley - cat is a Maine Coon so he is huge even if he is skinny. Sometimes I wonder if the cat ladies steal all the food since they're chubby and the boys are so thin!

... and there is a cricket team here as well. Cricket must be the most boring sport there is...

smiley - dragon

Post 40

Malabarista - now with added pony

smiley - laugh Yes, if there's Maine Coon involved, I doubt you'll ever get him tiny. Sounds like they have you nicely under control, though...

We have one cat who just keeps getting thinner as she gets older. She has long fur, but when she gets wet, she's like a stick-cat! We're afraid she'll fade away entirely someday and just be a little furry ghost... smiley - ghost

(I'll agree on the cricket. smiley - yawn³! But then, I don't really see the point of a lot of sports, especially if it's watching them rather than playing them. Well, except things involving horses, then you get to see horses smiley - winkeye)
