HooToo and I share birthday and mine was the 50th this year. It passed peacefully and I celebrated "lagom" - just about enough - with family and friends. A week later I was asked to work overtime by my boss - turned out to be a very pleasant evening with a dozen of my colleagues downtown. First we had a tapa dinner at a Spanish restaurant and then we went for chocolate tasting. Very yummy!

However advancing age takes its tolls smiley - sadface.

The last week I've had several episodes of annoying chest pain. Yesterday evening I had a couple of hours when I just sat in my sofa, Leopardesssmiley - cat in my lap and breathed through the sensation of someone pulling a wide iron belt round my chest at the same time a vise squeezed my lower jaw. I was pondering about walking down to the ER at the nearby Uni hospital, but decided not to. I was obviously not dying and going to the hospital usually mean you'll be kept there. This is not a good time for sick leave. Lots and lots to do at w*rk, where several colleagues are on (w*rk related) sickleaves. The HooToo meet and the pre selling preparation of a house which has been property of Mum's family for more about 75 years also are also strong opponents of being ill now.

However this morning after tea break, forced by a very determined younger friend and colleague, I called a friend who is a Cardiologist and I was sent to the ER and later admitted to the Cardiology ward where I'm hooked up to oxygen, ECG and the whole apparatus. Preliminary results does not indicate any myocardial infarction, but angina cannot be excluded yet. They intend to keep me here for another day or twosmiley - sadface

I fear that my planned London trip will be cancelled. Last time I intended to go to London the Queen Mum died, and now this. Guess I should stop planning London trips in advance.

Even though I'd really hate to miss the HooToo meet the house selling is more crucial. I just can't let my both 79 year old aunts do all house clearing and house cleaning by themselves. Hopefully there will be a cousin or two available if necessary.

Thanks!

Tests so far seemingly excludes myocardial infarction. Later today I'm going to do a cardiac stress test i.e. while having ECG monitored you bike while the working resistance is continuously increased.

However I'm bored. even it I'm not feeling entirely well being more or less confined to bed is not my cup of tea.

They're really mollycoddling me - and I can't say I like it... I'm not allowed to walk further away then the dining room. So when I went to cardiophysiology lab I was put in a wheelchair both ways. smiley - silly if not even stupid.

The ladies at cardiophysiology lab managed to wear me out and provoke some chestpains smiley - sadface. Two weeks ago I biked 21 km without any problems. I can't say I like the regress of my physical abilities.

My Cardiologist friend tried to comfort me by saying it's a "steep hill" that you're biking upwards.

smiley - sigh It doesn't seem as they're letting me out today.

Trust a doctor to wait so long before somebody eventually forces her to see a doctor... smiley - winkeye

I've had my share of time-outs in hospitals; all you can do is try and have as much fun as possible anyway. And have someone keep a steady stream of good books coming your way!

I've also had my share of inexplicable chest pains... usually derived from a pinched nerve in my back, or muscle spasms caused by a certain level of anxiety due to special circumstances. But it's always a good idea to check. Either you come away with a clean bill of health, or they find something and can then start doing something about it. Either way, you come out on top!

That said - I hope you'll get to be with your cats again soon!!!

I sense a conspiracy...

"My" cardiologist didn't like the results of the cardiac stress test I did earlier this afternoon, so tomorrow they're doing a coronary angiography.

So I had to call DJ (who is cat sitting) and ask him to bring PJ:s, dressing gown and shampoo.

I wanna go home! Severe cat deficiency is nothing to take light heartedly smiley - winkeye

smiley - biggrin yes, they're fun.

But they're not cuddly...tried to talk smiley - dragonprincess in to smuggle smiley - chocsmiley - cat to the Hospital. She refuses, claiming that a hospital is too scary for him. She might be right, but he is a very cuddly cat who likes to lay on my chest and purr. I think that might have healing properties.

Sigh. After my cancer surgeries, I always longed for Jack the Cat to be there with me in my hospital bed, lying on my chest and purring, making it all better... alas, he passed away from cancer himself in 2008. So he is now a smiley - ghostsmiley - blackcat, and able to be with me anywhere...

In the dentist's chair, however, I always think of my cat Morris who loves to hang over my shoulder, pressed against my cheek, warm and fluffy and purring up a storm, taking away the pain and drowning out the awful sound of the drill... smiley - headhurts
