Muddling Through

I hope you had a good weekend smiley - biggrin

I am not feeling too good today and wish I could have stayed in bed but my sense of duty has got the better of me and here I am...

I spent the day on the sofa, under the duvet watching DVD's yesterday smiley - sleepy which was very relaxing... even hubby found stuff to do in the garden so I could have a bit of peace and quiet.

Here's hoping I have a nice quiet week smiley - smiley, but what are the chances when one of our team is on holiday...?!

smiley - hug Am sorry you are not feeling wellsmiley - sadface
Think you are a little run down from all the stress and overwork.Take care of yourself and if you do not feel any better go to the Doctor.Sense of duty can back fire on you and you end up needing more time off in the long term.I know this from when I had Glandular fever earlier this year and have learnt from this experience.

I think you are right about the stress. Over the last week or so I have found it really hard to stay on top of things and not let myself slip back down into the pit of dispair!!!!!! This is a major test of all the work I have done over the last year... but the best bit is I have been fighting the negativity for a number of days (and am still fighting) instead of giving in and going under in the first few hours!!! It all seems so hard and I feel so alone but I know I am not alone smiley - hug and that is a huge difference. I used really believed I was alone but not now smiley - smiley

I hope everything is OK with you. Are you fully recovered from your illness? I know GF can be a bad one!

Good for you girl ,you keep fighting smiley - smiley.I recognise the signs now when I am under stress and know that we are only equiped to deal with stress in the short term not long term.So our bodies make us stop if we don't listen to the warnings.I knew I was feeling tired and overworked but kept soldiering on and even when I felt really ill I kept going and then discovered I had Glandular Fever when I couldn't actually couldn't get up one morning.I then felt really smiley - silly that I hadn't went to the doctors earlier. It took me about 7 months before I felt well again.Even now if I get tired my glands still swell up a little ,like a little warning.
Do not be too hard on yourself smiley - hug because when we feel unwell we cannot help but feel a little self pity and despondency.Just keep positive and remind yourself you are a wonderful strong multi tasking woman, and put yourself first for a little whilesmiley - ok

I'm back... decided that duty could take a running jump and I now feel so much better for it smiley - biggrin. I did spend a couple of hours talking myself out of the guilt trip but I didn't cave in under it - YAY! smiley - wow

I am still feeling a littel out of sorts (mentally and emotionally as well as physically) but I am planning a weekend of pampering and relaxation so hopefully I will be able to shift the negativity and get back to were I was a few weeks ago. But I am taking yur advice and I am not going to be too hard on myself smiley - smiley

Hope all is OK with you and that your friend is ok. Have you any plans this weekend?

I am actully very proud of myself smiley - biggrin for getting through what would have been an overwhelming couple of weeks for me a year ago smiley - somersault. I am quite excited about seeing my counsellor tonight to let her know, especially as I couldn't make it last week so I got through the whole ordeal without a 'crutch' smiley - wow

So you have caused yourself further injury by trying to carry on when your body is telling you to take a break?!! smiley - laugh !!!! Does your boyfriend help out in the garden at all or is it your domain? Whenever I offer to help in the garden I get told to go away (which suits me fine really) but I have been told I am getting a deep purple rose smiley - rose bush which will be my one and only outdoor plant to care for!!!

Take care and look after your gardening injuries!

As it turned out my weekend ended up being a total wash out and all I could manage was watching DVD's from under a duvet on the sofa! smiley - sleepy This cold I have been suffering from is a bad one and difficult to shake but I had a further few days off work and am hoping I am finally over it!!!

How's the gardening injury? Are you fully recovered?

You went back to work too soon smiley - hug being off work isn't any fun at all when you are ill smiley - sadface Loads of people have been going down with a nasty cold virus that gives you a really sore neck! Is that the one that you have had?It seems to be lingering.

I am fine now smiley - laugh well still a little sore but only myself to blame.Garden is almost ready for the winter now, so I am a little less anxioussmiley - biggrin

Listen take care of your self and boost your system up again by taking things a bit more easysmiley - ok
Until next time smiley - cheerup

I can't say I specifically noticed a sore neck it's everywhere that aches!!! smiley - laugh

I had a planned day off yesterday and took it easy again so only a 3 day week this week. smiley - biggrin I have always thought that companies should be happy with someone who is ill coming back to work on a part time basis on at least their first day back; as going from relaxing at home to straight back into things is often too much to deal with!

So do you have the whole winter off from gardening then? Or are there some things you will need to do? I am totally ignorant of these gardening things!

Do yu have any plans for the weekend?

Not the whole winter smiley - smiley I would go stir crazy. The weather generally dictates how much I am able to do.I always have something in bloom that is seasonal ,Christmas roses, winter jasmine or Snowdrops etc.
The birds always need attention ,the birdbath needs filled or defrostedsmiley - laugh, and I feed them all winter too wild seed and fatballssmiley - bigeyessmiley - laugh(suet and fruit on a string tied to the trees so the little birds can have a chance).Yesterday there was a really young(must of been a late clutch of eggs)kestral smiley - wow it was so intent watching the collared doves that it allowed me quite closesmiley - magic
This weekend study ,my next exam is looming and I haven't done very much revision this week at all so I have no choicesmiley - geek
Glad you are feeling better and are taking it slowly smiley - hug
Until next time take care.

I like snowdrops, smiley - wow they are such cool flowers. I also like lilly of the Valley - small white, perfectly formed blooms are so pleasing to my eye!!! Lilly of the Valley also remind me of my mum smiley - hug.

Unfortunately I know exactly what a collared dove looks and sounds like (at least when in distress!!) thanks to my ginger tom ... he bought a live one into the living room and then proceeded to mostly pluck it. I do love cats smiley - cat but I also loathe such destructive and vicious behaviour smiley - blackcat. Especially when they get hold of my lovely frogs!!

Going home now ... hope your studying smiley - book goes well... until next week...

Lily of the valley has the most lovely scent apart from freesias smiley - smiley. It is a nice way to remember someone by their favourite flower. My grandmother was a keen gardener and had a passion for lavender ,when I brush past mine I always think of her.

I smiley - love cats gorgeous clever but fickle creatures but they do slaughter my fine feathered friends smiley - grr But they are only doing what comes naturallly to them, we can tame them but their wild instinct to hunt is there.I can imagine it took some time to restore your lounge into a feather free zone smiley - hug.I expect the cat looked suitably indignant too but innocent at the same time smiley - rofl

Keep an eye out for the cat near your frogs smiley - yikes

I love the smell of lavender smiley - biggrin and make a point of brushing against the lavender I pass on the way to work. I like to think it gives me a calm start to the day.

Hubby and I have 3 cats; two smiley - catsmiley - cat tortoise shells (sisters) and the small ginger one (aka Monster) who is a one smiley - cat killing machine... the last time we went away he went on a spree and left a trail of destruction lined up at the bottom of the stairs that looked something like: smiley - mousesmiley - esuomsmiley - peacedovesmiley - mousesmiley - peacedove and just as hubby was describing the scene 'Monster' came trotting in, pleased as punch, with yet another smiley - mouse. That's not bad going in one 12 hour stretch!!!!! I kind of got the feeling he didn't want us to go anywhere!!! smiley - laugh

I am still finding feathers from the plucking ... he also brings in worms when it rains, he comes in with his spikey wet 'hairdo' with the longest worms trailing from his mouth!!! Must try to train him to hunt slugs and snails instead... then we might have some nice hosta's for a change!!

There is one good thing about him catching frogs, to my knowledge he has never killed onesmiley - smiley. Hubby found him sitting mid living room guarding a living frog one morning! I think he knows we like them and brings them home alive because he doesn't like the taste smiley - yuk!

How was your weekend?

Hope you are feeling better and are fully recovered from that flu bug.College is shut for two weeks and the schools half term.So it was funny having a Monday off.Gave the grass its last cut of the season as the clocks go back in a fortnight.
My weekend was filled with revisionsmiley - laugh,I did take Friday night off for friends thoughsmiley - biggrinMy insomnia had been a bit of a problem last week so to be honest I was very tired, but had a better sleep for 2 nights so feel smiley - ok now.
What was your weekend like?

smiley - monster is too cute to be true! It's impossible to stay mad with him - especially when he settles down with his head on my shoulder and purrs gently!

We had a hedgehog (Benson) who used to come into our kitchen and eat from the smiley - cat food bowl! Since we got the cat flap and a radiator in the kitchen he no longer has the chance to come in. I don't think we have any in our garden at the moment smiley - sadface

My weekend was busy but fun smiley - biggrin - had some friends round that we don't see often.

I know what you mean about the insomnia. I have been having problems since I got this nasty cold and just feel tired and irritable most of the while! I am still suffering the cough and the occassional headache but the worst seems to have passed on the cold front smiley - laugh

Coughs are so annoying especially at night smiley - hug at least you are on the mend now.
