hi blickybro! smiley - hug

So you are about to be honoured this weekend, eh? Good for you! smiley - ok

I am having the nicest week with lots of smiley - magic happening. Lovely unexpected love and support as well as quite a bit of good luck. It feels like my trust in people has also been renewed somewhat (trusting being almost impossible for me).

So, I am feeling much calmer. I am hoping to use this feeling to take steps for some much needed changes. Wish me luck. smiley - smiley

Yeah well, snatched from the very edge of the black abyss was I, mere moments from the gaping toothy jaws of despair and desolation fixing their life-shattering grip upon me . . . (well okay, somewhat prone to exaggeration - but not *too* much in this case, honest!) Trust me, I was *not* okay.

And now I believe again that good things *can* happen and when you least expect them.

Off to bed now. Hasta mañana, hermano mio.

So it's your big night tomorrow! smiley - smiley

I'm planning a pleasant weekend for myself getting a few things organised and perhaps making some more much-needed clothes.

Had a nice two-hour 'lunch class' with my student Carmen this afternoon and after a couple glasses of smiley - redwine I am feeling quite pleasantly *relaxed*.

Im damp.smiley - erm

My big "superdads" fun day went ok. I'd hoped for a huge number of dads but we ended up with 15 dads, lots of staff came down to work and my boss came down for a look too! Had five of the lads from the youth squad turn up to marshall events and raise some cash for the team by car washing. Things went well the mothers and kids joined in with some of the activities and so did the staff.

I tried to model it on "superstars": http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/superstars/photo_galleries/default.stm

but it ended up more like "its a knockout":

All good fun off for a few beers now.

And much deserved beers from the sound of it.

Honestly, you put so much of yourself into your work to help others. Makes me feel like I am far too lazy, especially about doing more for the community. Though, Sevilla does have a rather bizarre sense of community, it wouldn't be like what you are familiar with, though some of it would.

Meanwhile, the fact you got soaked does mean that they love you - and I think you know it. smiley - winkeye

Have a great evening!

Well, re-thinking my last posting to you, I didn't actually waste my two wishes on Della, I spent them on getting you to either *behave* or get you out of dealing with her at all. Sort of similar but not really. And you know I did it for you! smiley - smooch

Anyhow, since you seem to be behaving yourself these days smiley - winkeye I may not have to use up that last wish for awhile.

Up to you, really.

Dont speak too soon bigSIS,

me and trouble are like me and mud.smiley - winkeye

How are you anyway?

I was thinking about the panic attacks you have and how they get you down because you cant do what you want. Thing is you are actually quite brave.

You have said things on here that many would never say. You have moved abroad twice, not somehting that most people think of as scary ut you put most people in a position where they have to leave behind any of their old support network and they soon take of the rose tinted spectacles they once viewed emmigration with and stay put.

As you know Im quite sporty, but I have never loved heights. I went onto a ferris wheel with Lizsmiley - loveblush. She was dustng the seat and had sat down I had gone out through the other door by the time she sat downsmiley - run.

I have done rock climbing and rope walking across a gorge but that has always been to show kids how not scary it issmiley - erm. My fear was more of a spur to me to get them out of their fears. I didnt want it to affect them like it has done me. It hasnt a lot, but fear in general can and that's why I take it so seriously.

There is danger all around but we deal with it, because we know we can when it comes up (Im a veteran of several car acidents, two motocycle accident and countless bike accidents with the scars to prove it)ultimately it can come between us the things we enjoy and our goals. I have come to consider you a real friend even though we have never *met* it would make me so happy for you to be a bit freer. You, like most people dont know your own potential, but it will only ever be as big as your self imposed limits.

If you cant do it for yourself think of how much you could do for others just by your example or by being out and about to share with people.smiley - smooch

Wow, what a lovely posting that was, little bro. Thank you!

I don't know what makes the panic attacks happen - though I have an inkling. But you are right, it helps when I have something more important to do that takes my mind off my own fears.

For example, I am terrified of flying. And the only time I was not afraid - even a little bit - was when (many years ago) I took my then 9-year-old brother to Toronto (basically 'kidnapping' him, but not really, just getting him away from living with another brother who was beating him). That was the only time I never even thought of being afraid because I was taking care of Joey and I didn't want him to feel afraid. A bit like your rock-climbing thing, I guess.

Meanwhile, I would never get on a ferris wheel again - no matter how much you paid me!!!

These days the panic attacks are getting less frequent, though I still sometimes have days when I just know I can't go out. So I don't.

But no, leaping continents and starting from scratch three times over in different cities in the past fourteen years didn't scare me at all - somehow. Isn't that strange?

I guess it isn't the 'real' stuff that scares me so much, it's the stuff inside. I've always been a bit of an intensity junkie and I think taking huge risks has been a way to keep distracting myself from myself, if you know what I mean. Though these days I am getting a bit too old and tired to keep it going. I think I would now like to settle down with myself. Because I really am feeling tired. I'm getting a hankering for some comfy slippers and a fireplace and some good books - and cats of course! And maybe a good man to grow old with. Someone who might love me - imagine that!

I'm just so tired of fighting all the time to just get by. But basically, I'm just tired. Even too tired to get panic attacks these days, it seems. Not sure if this is a good thing or not. smiley - erm

Sorry, bit of a ramble. It's been kind of a strange day. Been doing and saying things I've never done or said before. Another risk maybe? I dunno.

Anyhoodle, off to bed soon.

buenos nachos,
sis

Well hello Mr Popular!

Yes, isn't the journal thread fun! Though I notice you haven't been posting there. And we are up to 136 photos now. Ivan has posted me some photos of him from Australia since he doesn't have a scanner, so those should be here soon. And Noggin has also promised me one where he doesn't look like a rabbit caught in the headlights. smiley - winkeye

I'm glad you're enjoying hootoo more these days. It does seem a bit more pleasant, doesn't it?

Also glad you are so happily busy and 'in demand'. Good for you!

I just got back from a bike ride and am now relaxing and thinking of going to the cinema later.

Turns out the 41º and 42º temps I've been hearing about are the 'official temperature' which is taken at 1pm at the airport. Meanwhile, between 5-6pm here it feels closer to 50º and probably is. I should get a thermometer for my balcony.

How are you today?

sis
