Just discovered this thread. 
May I point out that "not smiling" is not always synonymous with "not having fun"? 
Meeting so many lovely new people (yes, that includes you both, Mr603 
and HonestIago ) at the same time was a bit overwhelming...
Next time, you won't be "new people" to me, so I *might* be able to manage a more convincing facial expression to convey the fact that I actually enjoy being there. 
And my sincerest apologies to the (very many?) people I have offended by not smiling. 
Please do forgive me, I didn't mean to.
