STILL talking to my pareja. I've promised myself I'll leave soon and grab some beauty sleep. Sorry about a long wait for a reply, I was reading up on the plans for the new censorship scheme, and made a suitably indignated reply.
Ah, at my age, everything feels like a contest. I've lived ten lives, nah.

I'm chatting with Blues Shark on MSN - we've been at this for hours! Weird. I should have been in bed hours ago. Am quite sure I need my beauty sleep much more than you!

So in the end I was up ALL night MSNing. Went out for breakfast with my neighbour around 8 and finally lay down for a couple of hours sleep around 10am. Definitely TOO OLD for this sort of thing. Anyhow, have been a total zombie all day. Think I will go to the video shop now and get out some DVDs for the weekend . . . ah the full and exciting life I lead.
az
movie recommendation - Los Lunes al Sol (Mondays in the Sun) - probably the best film I've seen all year.

I've never been a fan of subtitled films, dubbing is always bad, and I don't speak spanish. But I'll look for it.
(I think I'm getting ulcers from sleep deprivation)

If you never watch any subtitled films you will miss a lot of wonderful stuff. But I agree that dubbing is always horrible. I am quite sure you would love Los Lunes al Sol.
I sure didn't love Analyse That. Thing is, there isn't a huge selection of dvd's here (and all the videos are dubbed!) so I ended up with Analyse That, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and a Spanish film called Juana la Loca.
Getting ulcers from sleep deprivation? Then sleep! I am still very wobbly after my all-nighter so will probably hit the hay soon . . .
buenas noches,

I'm having an operation on my mouth (yes, stereotypically related to having a brace, ugh) in about a week so I wanna lose them by then or the post-op pain will be even worse. Didja know, first operation I ever had, the table broke and I went into a coma. Lucky for the NHS I didn't sue them.
I'm intending to sleep most of tomorrow and write for the rest of it.

Oh, ulcers in your mouth - I thought you meant in your stomach. Aside from sleeping you can also rinse your mouth with very hot salty water.
How many operations have you had? How long were you in a coma and why were you having an op to begin with?
Saturday morning. Feeling almost human again. Think I will spend the day being as active as possible in 40ยบ heat.

ps
I just caught your question on the Meaning of Life thread. In case you are still in any doubt, yes I have had my thinking about friends time . . . thanks for waiting.

Zucchini Posted Jul 26, 2003
You have my sympathy - I used to wear a pallet brace then a fixed brace when I was in 6th form. For years afterwards I would have recurring dreams in which I was still wearing them. I'd realise I didn't need them anymore, threw them away, then they would reappear in my mouth. Aii.

Zucchini - *sympathy rays*. That's horrible! Didja go to therapy for it?
Az - Oh yes, salty water. That'll relieve the pain. Cough.
When I was a kid I had a whole series of ear infections in one ear (only have 50% hearing in it now, but that's better than nuttin'), about ten operations. I wasn't in a coma for more than about six hours, but my rents were worried sick. Even dear stepdada.
"aesthetic"? Aha, so you aren't as fat and old as you like to make out! You're not fooling anyone.

Mal Posted Jul 26, 2003
You certainltly can't be aesthetic and obviously old, in my opinion.
{{Report - Pareja currently persuading me to let her cut my hair. Since I have one of those new-age retro-almost-curly longish hairstyles, this is NOT going to happen. I'm very proud of it. It's the only stylish thing about me, save my face and suavity.}}

aesthetic (adj) : artistic, relating to good taste.
aesthete (noun) : a person who has or who affects a highly developed apreciation of beatyr, esp in poetry and the visual arts . . .
Why does this mean I can't be a fat old hag and still appreciate the finer things in life?

appreciation of beauty . . . sorry, but YOU try typing with a 15 pound cat on your lap!

Mal Posted Jul 27, 2003
YOU haven't tried typing as slowly and quietly as possible directly underneath your irate parents bedroom while attempting to gag and restrain a small child from messing up your posts and alerting the authorities, WHILST holding several MSN conversations to inconsequential friends and relatives, eating a tub of ice cream AND chatting to your pareja on the phone.
Or maybe you have, I don't know.

Well, this is certainly true.
Which leads me to the question - so???

Mal Posted Jul 27, 2003
EVERYTHING's a contest, be it with yourself, others, universal forces, or a small, heavy child whom you are attempting to gag.

(moved this from the Meaning of Life thread - it didn't seem appropriate to respond to it there).
>>az, if you're reading this - I know you're not partial to news of you-know-who, but over on the "God?" thread, he just posted a hypothesis that the universe is in continual rotation. Gotta admit, he can be bright. Even though, when we were discussing narrowing down answers to religion and why I hadn't and he had, he said "it's because I'm older than you". Ageist such and such.>>
Oh really? And has he mentioned his phd recently - like in the last page or so? If not, he's slipping. Oh yes, and has he ever mentioned his profession? Various other degrees and studies, areas of expertise, etc etc. I'll say he's older than you. About 104 from the sounds of it, to have accomplished *so much* . . .
Fnord, there is a huge difference between intelligence and wisdom, as I am sure you are aware. Lots of people can be bright. Big whoop-de-doo. I have never found this impressive on its own.

(little brother who tries to interfere with everything I do)
Okay, I acknowledge your superiority in all matters pertaining to Toxxin. And yes, he did mention his PhD and age and things to me, to which I replied, "In continuation to Toxx's post - I'm big, you're small, I'm strong, you're weak, I'm right, you're wrong...". He, naturally, took an injured tone with me.
I'm going to hospital in a few hours, so I won't be able to talk for a few days. See you when I get out! (Wandering through miles of backlog is a small price to pay for perfect teeth and gums, methinks)
Key: Complain about this post
