Hmm, almost New Year already
Posted Dec 29, 2003
I thought I'd post a Happy New Year as to tell the truth I haven't a clue what's going to be happening.
That is to say I'm going to visit my cousins in Newcastle but exactly when is beyond me. I might be off to Scotland too to see my other cousins too. My parents will drop me off in Nottingham on the way back but I won't have the internet until my housemates arrive on the 5th.
Then I'm back in Hemel on the 8th, it's the h2g2 London meet on the 10th, I go back to Nottingham on the 11th and my first exam is on the 13th. I feel a bit like a yo-yo.
Anyway, Happy New Year if I don't get online any closer to it. (Or even if I do ) I probably be writing the date as 2003 well into February anyway if previous years are anything to go by.
New Year's resolution this year is try and get the meanings of those annoyingly similar words the right way round. The main culprits being the likes of effect and affect. I'm not a particularly good speller and was still getting my zs back to front at 11 years old . However that was 9 years ago and it's about time I stopped using 'being a bad speller' as an excuse for being lazy.
Actually, that would be a better new year's resolution. To stop saying 'oh I'm a bad speller' and actually do something about it. Next year I might tackle the whole grammar problem
As a general note, if you catch me online after the 1st and before the 5th then please tell my to go away . I need to spend the time living in the library, I've a lot of journals to get through.

So who wants a slice of birthday cake?
Posted Dec 22, 2003
Well?
My birthday normally gets forgotten as it's so close to a certain other thing. I haven't had a single card in the post this year and one of my housemates thought it was yesterday. However this is my best birthday so far.
Why?
Because this has been the best year so far.
So despite the fact I had birthday presents wrapped in christmas wrapping paper (a pet hate ) and once again most people are away or have completely forgotten as usual I for once don't actualy mind. The people who have remembered are largely those I've only known for a short amount of time, though I generally feel like I've known them all my life. I feel like I've gained friends rather than been forgotten.
However, there's still lots of and to get through if anyone wants to give a hand.

So much has happened since I last wrote a journal entry. I've been to two hootoo meets for a start. Trouble is, whenever I try to write about them, I just get 'error xml loading' or the such like.
On the times when hootoo does actually want to behave itself, I find that there simply isn't anyone around anymore. It seems that practicaly everyone has technical difficulties, a lack of internet connection or something else to keep them away from hootoo.
Out of the 20 odd people I always chatted to before SSO etc, the number that are still around on a regular basis is somewhere in the region of 2. All too frequently I find journal entries along the lines of 'I'm not going to be around very much for a while'.
This is more an experiment really, I'm curious to see if there's anyone still around to reply. I'm getting tired of watching the dust settle, and I miss chatting to everyone.
Times like today especially, when I've an unusual bout of homesickness, I really could do with rambling on some nonsensicle topic, but there's no one to ramble on to. Hootoo and you lot have been great at cheering me up when my RL friends weren't around. The internet was just about my only source of conversation with anyone outside work for a large proportion of the summer while my family was away, and the postings around the time of the car being broken into stopped me from panicing.
It's not that RL is bad at the moment. I've had loads of essays, but there's been lots of fun too. Just the whole business of having a house has been great. But every now and again I guess everyone feels a little down and could do with a little escapism. Even when I'm my normal smiley self, I feel better after a good natter, but I don't think that's anything out of the ordinary.
So take care all of you , I hope you're well, thanks for all the rambling, and I hope sometime more of you will be around and the conversation can continue.
I'm going home for a couple of days tomorrow(I pick convenient moments to be homesick ) and then am going to Cheddar. I might not get online for a few days, I really don't know.
Later,
Unc

Back online
Posted Oct 21, 2003
It may have taken 2 months but I've finally got internet access in my own room . Finally I can get on the net without hijacking someone else's computer. I even managed to fix my printer .
It turns out that the previous LAN cable had a hole in it, and it wasn't my feeble attempts to re-end it weren't the problem at all.
I got kind of distracted by sudenly getting the net working and ended up burning my dinner. Ah well, it was still edible, and the crispy cakes turned out alright..

Personal Space Workshop - almost finished
Posted Aug 18, 2003
In case you've managed to escape me linking you to it so far, its front page is at A1123354. Apart from the odd bit, it's all finished now except for a gadgets section, but I think that maybe that one isn't necessary, as by the point people can add gadgets they may be able to follow the <./>GuideML-clinic</.>
Well anyway, I'd be very grateful if a few of you could take a look at it , I think it's on the right lines.. and I've already got one satisfied customer before I've opened the thing but I'd still appreciate some feedback before I polish it off.
