oh dear...so what's your next venture in life?
Hi Unc tis Opti
Laura Posted May 23, 2008
PSG got a new job yesterday, so next thing is to wait until he starts that as it will mean a few changes (it's further away, so I won't see him as much). I can't work until Sophie's older, so next thing for me is just to carry on looking after my daughters

It pays slightly better but is more stable and in an area that allows him to progress in the future.
They keep my hands full
Well done! I've only got three, I tried writing again recently but I keep getting distracted. Do you write for anything other than h2?

I've written for the local newspaper but really want to be a paid journalist/researcher got any ideas as to how I can make my dream come true?

I'm sorry but I know next to nothing about journalism etc. There's a course that runs up here to get people into it, there must be something down south too. I expect it's all highly competitive though

Well I'm still at it applying for things that take my fancy, but perhaps I'm being too picky.
So hows things with you and your family haven't heard from you in ages.

Maybe there's something close to what you want the experience from which would help you move on?
Been very busy. First there's Sophie keeping me busy. Milly also had a nasty cold at one point and we also had to go to A&E when she got thrown from her seat on the bus and hit her head - she's alright though, just bruised, but the police got involved. My Dad's ill, been in hospital a couple of times and has been having lots of tests but we won't really know what's wrong until after an exploratory operation on the 6th August. There's also been PSG's, my Dad's, Mum's, brother's and grandad's birthdays since Sophie was born. PSG's mum also filed for divorce the week Sophie was born after PSG's dad moved out last November claiming it was 'for more space' and then the woman who was apparently the 'lodger' goes on holiday with him for two weeks to Cyprus. We're also going to have to move as he wants us out of the house we've been renting from him for nearly three years which we were going to buy from him next year
How are you doing?

You could be right there
sounds like you've been through a lot. I hope that everyone gets better and your housing problem gets sorted. I'm sorry to hear what has happened to PSG and yourself regards his father. I know words aren't enough sometimes and I'm sorry thats all I have. I'd love to help you out by babysitting or something.
Me I've got little confidence and self esteem, which has affected my way of thinking about things. For example, my boyfriend and his family and sisters bf all have good jobs and there's me struggling to get on the ladder. I've now got a position but I thought I had to do some tests in two days and couldn't get past the first! Luckily its more than two days. I almost had panic attacks over them.

My general view is that the obstacles in life are what shape us, and sometimes being knocked down leaves you picking yourself up and then heading in a better direction. We've decided to try and buy a house, as prices are falling here and it shouldn't take too long for them to be within our reach.
I know what you mean about jobs. As you may remember I shared the house at uni with four others. One I'm not sure where she went after Australia. One has got a job in a primary school next year and is moving in with her boyfriend. One is finishing her second year of her Phd and has had her name on some published papers. The other is finishing the first year of her Phd and is just back from Durban, South Africa, where she had to do a poster presentation at a conference. Sometimes it makes me think what I've managed in the same time is rather insignificant, but then each day I see my daughters learn new things and I know that it's not. If anyone had told the five of us where we'd be in three years time we wouldn't have believed them. Life's hard sometimes, but if you can make the best of what you have then you can always bounce back and succeed.

I guess then if you are happy that's all that matters in life.

Well, we have a house now. Actually, we moved in just over a year ago. It's been a busy time but is now actually starting to settle a bit despite some unforeseen obstacles (such as PSG's mum having breast cancer, though she's most the way through the treatment now and no sign of the cancer spreading). We didn't have a television for three months and not even a phone for two weeks. The result is I've been reading books and listening to the radio in my free time and haven't been online much for ages .
How's things?
