I got this far so I'd better say hi, seeing as you've told me to...
So "hi". I wandered my way over here from a thread we're both present in, hosted by our mutual friend, the enigmatic Existential Elevator.
It was a choice between looking at some random people on here, or getting on with either my stats coursework or a project on Quasars. You won

I did? Oh yes, so I did
Glad I'm preferrable to stats coursework , I'm currently actively avoiding the stats for my last bit of lab work.
I know already that the results are wrong, and doing all that stats to prove that the results are wrong...
, just a little too pointless

wow, that sounds almost as fun as what I should be doing.
I've really got to motivate myself, or they won't let me wear one of those funny square hats and the dress at the graduation do.

That was the in between one, photography makes a nice break but environmetal impact assessment theory is as nice as the name
Well that's mean of them

Nah, I think it's pretty fair, to be honest. Gotta put the work in... it's just it's so hot, and that's not conducive to work in the slightest.

Certainly is too hot, got a fair bit done today but now I'm just too tired. Should be a little cooler tomorrow though; coursework will be in on time yet.
Hello there Unc
TeaKay Posted Apr 26, 2004
Cooler tomorrow? That's a good thing. I don't like it too hot- it's the wasps I hate most.
Mmm... coursework... I didn't think they let you swear on here?

Laura Posted Apr 26, 2004
Wet but cooler. Wasps I don't mind. Just as well for applied entomology.
Ah yes, ooops . Will have to be more careful in future.
Hello there Unc
TeaKay Posted Apr 26, 2004
Aw, not wet? I don't mind it when it's wet, just as long as I don't have to walk around in it...
Yes, I believe words like 'coursework', 'exam' and 'lecture' are highly frowned on.

Wet I don't mind too much, as long as it's not flash flood type wet
I actually enjoy most my lectures , a most un-student like behaviour. Exams and coursework though, not nice. *shudder*

TeaKay Posted Apr 27, 2004
I missed all the wetness. I just hit all the dank greyness, which I can cope with.
I find lectures send me to sleep, even if I'm finding them interesting. I don't know what it is, maybe just something in the air.
I prefer coursework to exams, most definitely, especially since I got a mark back today of 70% woohoo!

I got wetness, with added thunder.
The one first thing this morning was sending me to sleep, but I think that was just because it was first thing in the morning.
Got about half and half this semester, which is nice.

Thunder??!!? Why didn't I get any!? I need a good thunderstorm- possibly my favourite type of weather, but we hardly get any round here...
I had two lectures today, both of which sent me to sleep. Didn't help that they were both on the same subject.
Gah, lucky you- I have one project which is proving to be no less than evil, and 8 exams. Grrr.

Had at least 10 since the beginning of April, I love getting caught out in thunderstorms.
I had three, but the first and the last covered much the same content . The first one was 2 and a half hours which didn't help. Aquatic science, oceanography and marine zoology do overlap a bit
4 main exams, another one being held early next Thursday , 3 outstanding pieces of coursework and a presentation.

You're not that far away from here! How come we never get any?!? How dare you keep them all for yourselves!
Ouch, both of mine were only an hour long, but they were both on relativity (insert comment/joke/witticism that if you moved faster your lectures would appear to be shorter here)
Only four? Lucky you.
Anyway... shall we get off the less- than spirit-lifting subject of exams and move onto something else? What do you like doing when you're not slaving over hot coursework or an exam paper, if you can remember such a time?

I think we substituted snow with thunderstorms, had a distinct lack of fluffy white stuff this winter.
If I'm not on hootoo my free time is filled up Ramsoc (university of Nottingham rambling and hillwalking socitey). Main social on a Wednesday, meeting with rambling friends most other days, badminton with ramling friends on a saturday and rambing on Sunday.. I used to do archery but the Wednesday seesions were mostly cancelled and I'm rambling on Sundays. I do non rambling related things as well but that is when I'm not slaving over revision and coursework. You?
Hello there Unc
TeaKay Posted Apr 28, 2004
We had a couple of hours of snow, spread over about three weeks.
In my free time, what little there is, I do a lot of reading. I love reading, mainly science fiction but at the moment I'm reading a Terry Pratchett book. I also like to take the time to see my friends- work being so heavy for us all at the moment I don't get to see most of them very much.
I play guitar and love music- I'm pretty diverse in my tastes, but my favourite band is Queen, and my favourite genre lies somewhere in 60's-70's British rock.
I like films, I have a large collection of DVDs.Again, I'm pretty diverse in my movie tastes, but I've been making an effort to catch some of the classics.
I'm interested in astronomy, but can't afford a telescope at the moment, so I'm basically limited to what I do as part of my course.
Erm, I also like real ales and beers, and enjoy the odd pub quiz.
I've done a little bit of hillwalking, but that is a very little bit, lol, so I couldn't say it was a hobby- I'm not a very sporty person.

I love reading too but it takes me ages to finish a book at the moment due to the work and stuff. Currently re-reading for the who knows how manyth time the Last Continent, I don't think it's one of Pratchett's best I just find it very funny
Nine times out of ten I'm listening to Queen or the Beatles.
My housemates like romantic comedies, which is about the only genre I don't really like . I just go to sleep
Another real drinker
, I've a particular fondness for Black Sheep
I am not a sporty person at all and didn't use to do much hillwalking but kind of got hooked.

I'm currently reading Guards! Guards!- it's only the 3rd Pratchett novel I've read, the first being Truckers during my pre- GCSE English years.
Queen or the Beatles puts you in a decent place in my estimations I think I like you
Romantic Comedies aren't something I dive for immediatley, and at the moment you could expect (quite rightly, in my opinion) to have certain parts of you bitten off for even suggesting that I should watch one.
You're a real ale drinker too? My, you actually sound like the kind of person I could get aloing with... don't meet many of those! Black Sheep is very nice, but then so are so many others! I'm not a lager drinker at all, you can keep your Carling and your Budweiser- leave them for the 12 year olds!
I can see the attraction to hillwalking where I can't with most other sports. You're out in the middle of nowhere with not many other people and just beautiful scenery and the odd sheep for company. Described like that, it sounds like pure bliss!
