Hello Tanzen , happened to meet you on several threads and always wanted to drop you a line..
I'm from Germany, and by some of the words you post I guess you have some German roots?
Would like to know a bit more about you

Howdy Bel !
Aye, I've seen you in the music chains if I'm not much mistaken ?
Well, I'm Aussie born and bred, and unfortunately do not have a German bone in my body ...I do however have a keen interest in the language and the people...as you can probably tell by my screen name...
So what do you want to know ?

Hi Tanzen
Yep, music chains and "hang the man" a very long time ago...,but if I remember it correctly it was "Tanzen in the street" then, which stuck me as being a bit odd
How comes you're interested in German language and people of all languages and people there are?
Where in Australia do you live, some remote place?
I live in Frankfurt/Main , but was raised in the countryside
Well, I think that's enough questions for a start

I don't really know if I can explain it, but I've just always liked Germany ...the accents, the language, I don't know...
...I got the nickname (tanzen) when I was at university (I went for a year )...
...we were at a dance and there was a guy there called Ricky the German (he name was Ricky, he was German and we weren't very clever )...he spoke decent English but the more he had to drink, the more German he spoke...so by the end of the night he's vocabulary was pretty much down to "tanzen" and "trinken" (I hope I spelt that right )...
...we all knew that trinken meant he wanted a beer, so whoever was nearby (or on there way to the bar) could take care of that...but I was the only person who would dance, so whenever he said "tanzen" everyone knew he was talking to me...and after that it just kind of stuck

Glad you've not been put off Germans by a representative of our population
What did you study and why did you stop? ( Feel free not to answer to any of my questions if you think they're too intruding)
I studied English and French with the aim to become a teacher, but then thought I'd rather have a family before i was too old, so stopped it after my first child was born. I've never regretted it, my two boys are just wunderful and I've got a job I really like, so what?

Ah, he was ...but he was lovely...and an excellent dancer !
I went to Melbourne University for a year, I was doing an Arts/Law degree...I left because the environment was a little hostile (I grew up in a fairly poor family...then I had to spend my time surrounded my little rich brats...don't get me wrong...some of them were nice...but on the most part...)
So I decided to take a year off to get my head around in...5 years later and I haven't even considered going back !
Now I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up...oh well, I guess the only thing I really have at this point in my life is time, so I may as well use it to my advantage ...
I am at an age now where I am thinking about having kids...actually...I've been thinking about it for a while now...all I have to do is find someone who will marry me...

Hi,
I don't think you'll have to find someone who marries you, it's sufficient to get pregnant , you can live together without being married, or are people very oldfashioned in Australia?

I'm not really surrounded by an old fashioned people, so I could get pregnant...but it would mean giving up my job and moving somewhere sheaper (unless I started saving now...
I actually have an agreement with one of my mates...if I'm 30 and unattached, he's going to father a child for me....that way I don't have to worry about "relationships" as far as the old biological clock goes...and he's cute, so at least the kid would have half a chance at being attractive

Anyway, it's probably not nice to raise children all alone, so better to have a reliable partner
But if you are only 23, there's still some time to go

tanzen Posted Jan 13, 2004
Oh, I'm actually 24 now (I must update my profile info, hey ?) ...and apparently the best time to have children is between 25 - 35...which means if I actually want to be in a "stable" relationship before I start having kids I better get started ...
...My oldest sister is married with two kids...the nest one down is unmarried with a son...they're both doing well, and I suppose the advantage of having a big family is that not having a father probably doesn't matter as much...
...but I think I would need someone to hang around before I started spawning (unless I hit 30 and am on my lonesome, in which case I'll be giving my mate a call !)

You are probably right. I was nearly 27 when my first child was born, but had lived with my hubby for 6 years already, so thought i knew what I did when I married him
Better you don't rely on your mate, he'll perhaps not be willing to keep his promise, after all it would mean he'd have to pay for the childs upbringing and education

We've already decided that he wouldn't have any ties to the child if he didn't want them...I wouldn't expect him to pay child support or anything...I just want him to get me pregnant !
Of course, if he wanted to play daddy he'd be allwoed to, I just wouldn't expect it, that's all...
Anyways, on that , I'm outta here for tonight...hopefully I'll catch you tomorrow?

Maybe when (IF!!) I get married I'll have to cut down my pub time...but at the moment it's the best time-filler I have !!
