h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hello Viojen! Even though I'm leaving for a few months (offically), I thought I'd still come here, lurk a bit, and talk (occasionly) to some hootoo friends, like you!

Well, I'm back for a bit, then away again on Poets.
How's everything with you? Was Greece nice?

I'm still in Greece, and it's great! We took a day trip to Albania as well.

I'm back again (was in Nova Scotia). I'll be away Aug 11-17 as well, at chamber music camp, but then I'll be home for a loooooong time, only missing a few weekends (camping on labor day weekend with Renee's family, retreat a few weeks later for confirmation class, and then prob. nothing until thanksgiving)
How was Greece? Anything interesting?

Nova Scotia was good. We spent time rowing/canoeing on the cove and also at the beach (cookout and hunting for seaglass) (the only bad thing about cookouts (w/campfire) is tofu pups do not lend themselves to being stuck on sticks. they oftentimes break. but they don't take long to cook) And we had the rug hooking group my grandma is in over for a potluck lunch. If they didn't come over we would have gone to hooking anyways, but this way we didn't have a 3/4 hour drive.

I really enjoyed Scuba diving.

We went on a few boat trips to the main town of the island, and some beaches. The place we stayed at was great; our own house, two swimming pools, a bar, a restraut, a pool table, lots of people my own age...

I don't know if there are any people my age in the village where we stay in NS. But my neighbors (age 12 and 8) are fun to do stuff with, and then there was my sister (12) and two cousins (13 and 10). The three of them (neighbor, sister, and cousin) are a little high-energy when they get together though! (read: INSANE!!!!!)

*Knowingly nods*

There were some people who weren't my age, but they were all great fun to do stuff with.

*nods in agreement*

Particularly as some people my age are *really* stupid.

What do they do (do I want to know)?

Just stuff that I would generally consider dumb (and that's not really legal). Smoking, drinking, etc.
None of my friends though.

You wouldn't believe what some people in my said about the war in Iraq.

We had to agree to not talk about it within my group, because there were some very strong opinions and nobody was happy about the "discussions".

Can I ask, how many people (roughly) in the US supported action?

I have no idea. one maybe (stupid president)?
I believe it was largly based on political affiliation.

Um, don't know. I'm finally home for good, but the past month it's been hard keeping track of where I am. and then it didn't seem worth it to completely catch up on b'log because I'd be going away in another few days. And it was v easy to miss conversations.

Well, if you don't know who David Kelly is, then it would take houurs to explain the huge political scandal, involving suicide, cover-up, the goverment probably lieing to us, and the only justice inquiry involving the the Prime Minister apart from Margaret Thatcher.

It's a bit complex.

I assume it's a big thing on your side of the pond, but doesn't seem to be on ours. But if you can point me to a few appropriate newslinks or something...
