This afternoon I was standing in line at the pharmacy in the local supermarket, (not) minding my own business. The woman in front of me had a large sack of prescription bottles from the Rexall across the street and she wanted to buy some behind-the-counter pain-killers.
'I only have 100's left. They're about six bucks.' the pharmacist said.
'Oh. I've only got five eighty left' the woman said.
Feeling a little wild, I said 'I'm sure I've got twenty cents' and gave the woman two dimes with a smile. She was profuse with thanks.
'Actually,' said the pharmacist, 'you're still four cents short.'
'I'm sure I've got four pennies,' I said, still grinning (please remember that I pretty much look like a rather large and hairy street person just now)
The woman was again very thankful and said, gesturing to the Rexall sack of pharmaceuticals 'I just paid a couple of hundred dollars at Rexall for these.'
To which I replied, without missing a beat, 'I'm sure you can get a lot more than that for it on the street.'
The woman laughed, a little uncomfortably.
The pharmacist laughed. She knows me.
The dairy case is just next to the pharmacy. A mildly diminutive woman had lifted a ladle from the reduced to clear shelf next to the washroom to try to reach a carton of EggBeaters on the top shelf.
'need some help?' I asked.
Profuse thanks and brief conversation.
Turn to my left.
'Oh, could you? . . .' the elderly lady asks, pointing to the half litres of buttermilk on another high shelf.
Happily, I got it down for her.
Of I went with a smile on my face.

No, really. It's all very positive!
I went into my purveyor of haggis this afternoon and he said, 'We've got to set up a barter arrangement! Haggis for bread!' He apparently enjoyed the loaf of home baked bread I gave him for Christmas.
I left today with a freshly made haggis for nothing more than a promise of a loaf of bread next week.

So. When does Zooey Deschanel show up on her scooter?

I've lost a whole lot of respect from Jim Carrey ever since he's come out as an anti-vaccination campaigner.
Still you seem to be doing all right

You know I didn't fall in until recently that her and the one who play Temperance Brennan in Bones are sisters.
I know , I know - the name - I'm just ultra slow on the uptake on somethings.

The band is called Munchausen By Proxy?
I really shouldn't, but on some level I do find that intensely amusing.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
