Sorry Gosho - I only just saw the last few posts (got distracted after I opened the reply to box). If I have anything more to add I'll see if I can manage to start a thread elsewhere (although I can see connections with the subject line of this thread smiley - winkeye)

If anybody starts a thread about abortion or pregnancy, I'm going to be there in a trice to talk about missing explosives in Iraq.

In fact there are definite paralells between the pathologising of childbirth and the war on terror. Both involve using fear to undermine perception; both involve people (usually white men) setting themselves up as experts and investing in themselves a large amount of power over 'ordinary' people; and both involve extensive use and/or misuse of data to support their own position despite opposition from the people they are meant to be helping.

"Just Ask
'What's that song?', 'What was Tolkien on about?' and 'What's the weather like where you are?' are just some of the things the h2g2 Community is discussing right now. Where? Ask h2g2 of course!"

Wasn't there also thread drift into pregnancy and abortion on the Tolkien thread? If not, why not?

Pssst! Any anti-abortionists still here can have a look at this one, which at least is related to the topic of abortion (unlike this thread).
