. . . but Polaroids are somehow blessed?
http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/10/21/bothwell041021.html
Can someone please point out to me where the Book of Revelation says that digital photographs are the work of Satan but Polaroids are okay?

Probably just as well. He'll probably claim that stop signs are the work of the Devil and refuse to stop for them.

Believes Polaroids and digital cameras are specifically discussed in Revelation, but probably doesn't believe in dinosaurs because they're not mentioned in Genesis.

Bothwell, who drove on a licence with a polaroid photo until 1997, and took the issue to court in 2002, said his lengthy fight has been worth it, even though it has led to the closure of his Owen Sound organic farm and manure spreading business.
oh, I dunno I think his manure spreading business has just now hit the big time.....

I know photoshop. Does this mean I am going to Hell?

According to Bothwell, you are probably going to hell just for using your computer!
As for the driving licence dilemma, I wonder where gas-guzzling automobiles were mentioned in the Book of Revelation?

It's too bad that God didn't specifically say "Don't be a f***ing moron, for it is an abominatin to me." A lot of people would be SOL in the standing at the right hand of God....
He doesn't have a problem with trimming his hair which is in Leviticus 19:27: Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Oh, Mudhooks, thank you for that one!
I personally think that 'don't be a f***ing moron' should have been one of the ten commandments. We could have easily skipped 'not making a graven image' for that one and would have been much better off for it.

As far as I am concerned, they could have left out "Thous shalt not covet your neighbour's ass"..... especially as my neighbour has an especially nice... never mind.

I don't know, I think he kind of has a point - not about the bible stuff, but about the digitilising of our identities. I recently signed up with a new video shop and they took a digital photo to be used as ID. After I left the shop I started to feel quite uncomfortable about it, although I am not sure why - possibly the problems with private companies having my digital photo, name and address, and the potential for their network being hacked and IDs being stolen.
I didn't feel like this a couple of years ago when NZ swapped to photos on drivers licences and they use digital photos, so I guess I trust the government more.
I can tell I am going to be really unhappy when digital fingerprinting and retinal scans are required
The Luddites did have a point after all.

If he's claiming to be Amish why does he want a driving licence?

Okay. I've added an 11th commandment to my limerick version of the Decalogue: A2768394
Thanks to Mudhooks for her version she e-mailed me but I've made my own. (and Moron does not rhyme with Delorian.)

You all seem to be missing the point here. It is not the fact that the photograph is digital that worries the god-fearing Christian. It is that a copy of his photo is being held in a centralised and easily searchable database. This is certainly something that we should all concern ourselves with.
Tourists from Ireland and England wanting to visit the USA do not require a visa. But we do need to have our fingerprints digitised and held centrally in America's computers, as if we were common criminals. Some of my friends will not travel to the States for this reason.

Gnomon, when I saw this thread this morning, I thought of my sister, who is indeed very concerned about digital photos and databases... I don't share her concerns as far as NZ goes, but I do see the point about being finger-printed to get into the USA..
