Custom74
Custom74 is the on-line name I invented for myself after buying a 1974 Custom Telecaster. I was so proud of that guitar that I ignored for a long time the obvious signs that I had been sold a fake - or at the very least a 'Frankenstein' guitar built from old bits and pieces of other guitars. The neck may have been 1974 as that is how guitars are dated and the value of the guitar is based (amongst other things)on the age and provenance of the guitar. However the body and certainly the fittings and pickups were from a while mish mash of instruments.I was blinded in the shop by the money in my pocket and my desire to own a piece of history. I sold it eventually for £400 and was pleased to see the back of it. I was had.
I've been writing about guitars since 1994. I've contributed to maost of the guitar mags you'll read and have three books in print. But I've always been a Douglas Adams fan and the thought of contributing to the guide is too much to resist.
Don't Panic :-)
